I'm on Fedora 39 and I can't find the "login manager" extension...
ОтветитьNice video. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьWhat icon pack are you using?
ОтветитьThank god Forge exists. Astro good extension to enhance productivity at work.
ОтветитьHi! What gnome theme are you using? I liked the blue of the folders.
ОтветитьI just want to make Gnome looks simple
ОтветитьI stopped using kde in ~ 2002. Since then I am a hardcore gnome user and fan. Especially since gnome 3. Still I didn’t know most of these extensions:). Because of you I tried kde this night. And I doubt I will ever abandon gnome :)
ОтветитьI love blur extension and bern my window extension
ОтветитьGNOME takes Linux's famous customizability philosophy and tosses it out of a very high window. It is a DE abomination. Let's hope the designers don't get anywhere near cell phone or Smart TV UIs...or any other device that has a UI.
Ответить"DING" in my opinion has too many bugs and crashes too often, I hope the developers work on it fixing all the x11 issues and related of such.
ОтветитьGosh, I just don't like Fly Pie... It just doesn't follow GNOME's design guidelines and I think it looks extremely ugly. Same goes for the bad-looking tabs with Pop_OS! tiling extension and also Forge.
ОтветитьСпасибо мужик, люблю твои видео, дай бог тебе здоровья.
ОтветитьForge was a heck of a suggestion. Wasn’t aware of that. Thanks!
Ответитьi bet that someone will use fly pie with an eye tracking system for people with disablilities
Ответитьi wish kde apps looked good in gnome specially dolphin.
ОтветитьFor anyone used to the redmond ui, dash to panel and arcmenu are essential for gnome
Ответитьis there a gnome extension that removes gnome that would be a 10/10 extension
Ответитьthat forge extension looks pretty cool. i think i'll try it
ОтветитьI'm finally considering going to the gnome side from kde... i will miss activities though
Ответить…Or, you can say screw it to all of that jazz and install Material Shell. No for real Nick check it out some time.
ОтветитьI like to use "tiling-assistant" gnome extention. It fits great my workflow
ОтветитьHere's a simple and little know one I can not live without: quick close in overview.
It allows closing windows from the over oew with a simple middle click.
Never knew gnome could be so much fun!
ОтветитьAppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support, Bring Out Submenu Of Power Off/Logout Button
, Desk Changer, Vitals
just perfection, gnome tweaks, extensions, drops mic
ОтветитьYou missed ArcMenu and DashToPanel use them, but still keep panel at top is more effcient this way then at bottom
ОтветитьMy favorite Gnome extension is Dolphin 😁😁
ОтветитьHey Nick, what Icons set are you using there? They look fantastic.
ОтветитьFlyPie is a neat idea... Would be really cool to see it on KDE someday. ;)
ОтветитьI'm searching for Forge in the extension manager and I get all other sorts of stuff. Why can't I find it? I'm on Fedora 38 using Gnome Wayland.
EDIT: Weird... first time I searched, it didn't come up. Subsequent times, it found it. Bug?
EDIT 2: Discord is not compatible with Forge apparently. :(
I have two extensions I feel like I need: Alphabetical App Grid and Caffeine. Caffeine is pretty simple - it just shuts off all screen dimming/suspend/screen blank features. It's super simple, and just works, with the ability to set it to run automatically with certain apps and to remember its state between logins. Great stuff.
Alphabetical App Grid is the one that gets me. I can't fathom why this isn't default functionality, or at least something you can toggle in settings. By default, Gnome just drops your App icons into the grid in the order they were installed This makes no sense (to me, anyway) whatsoever from an organizational standpoint. So, whenever I install a new system, my first stop is Alphabetical App Grid. This so annoys me that I may delay updating to Gnome 45 until this particular extension is available.
I also regularly use:
- Firefox PiP Always on Top, which just does what it says on the tin, plus puts the PiP on every workspace
- GS Connect
- Custom Accent Colors (which requires User Themes, but I want to stress that I only use User Themes for Custom Accent Colors - I love Gnome's default look)
I play around with other stuff, too, but I don't tend to keep them very long; for instance, I had fun with V-Shell which lets you turn back the clock and use Gnome 3's workflow, which was a fun walk down nostalgia lane. It also has, like, a million other options; you can think of it as being kinda like a lightweight Just Perfection with a different focus. That's a bad description, but it's all I can think of. In the end, though, I like my Gnome fairly vanilla and have since the late 3.Xs.
I really like search light. But It breaks shell sometimes while open app from it. It could be another error of my setting, but after turn off search light, There is no issues til now
ОтветитьYou forgot about 2 very useful extensions. GSConnect, which is kde connect, just integrated into GNOME and "quick settings audio panel" which MASSIVELY improves the... Quick settings audio panel of gnome.
Ответитьima try fly pie with my steam deck :)
ОтветитьIncrease font size for YT videos or change DPI
ОтветитьI want to something that will extend functionality in Nautilus. Maybe give it some features that Dolphin has, and even "Column View" as in macOS's Finder. "Column View" alone would make me very happy.
ОтветитьI love gnome but, i have problem with extensions ( tls connection handshake failed) and i dont know how fix it
ОтветитьWhy does Nick hate desktop icons so much? XD
ОтветитьGradience sometimes does change the look of buttons and such for specific themes like the pop os theme
ОтветитьAs a reponse to your comment as to why I watch this video, is because libadwaita is the only reason I don't use Gnome anymore. I was hoping for a extension/application that could override it :)
ОтветитьI doubt that PoP Gnome extensions will die. Somebody will probably fork them.
ОтветитьCan anybody tell which linux distros is he using? Is it fedora?
ОтветитьThank you for mentioning Just Perfection. On OLEDs one needs to hide any static element, like the top panel, and I found it difficult to do it reliably. Just Perfection does this.. and so much more :)
ОтветитьAlso Nick, I need to correct something you said about your sponsor, Tuxedo computers. They don't have workstation computers (which are boards with Intel Xeon W, AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro etc). They only have just regular desktops, NUCs and laptops. In future, please make sure you only mention what they actually have, not what they don't have.
ОтветитьMerci beaucoup por la vidéo!!
Login Manager was really helpful for an issue I've been searching for months. As always, your vids have been helping me to materialize Linux the way I've been imagining
Gnome without extensions is very limited and feels constricted. Using extensions, however, made me leave gnome because every second week there was a new bug, or something changed, or went discontinued, or the new gnome was incompatible. It was not productive and not efficient. I decided to stop trying to make gnome what the developers obviously don't want it to be, and changed to a full featured DE with everything already embedded in it: cinnamon (KDE would also be good, but it's not my taste). With Cinnamon (LMDE) i found the perfect sweet spot between customization out of the box, stability, productivity, and I don't have to worry that a small update could brake my desktop any day.
ОтветитьI wish there is gnome extension in which you can do a fine tuning of shrinking dash to dock. Option in dash to dock has just one option, no fine tuning
