You CAN Play Starfield on HDD | FIX FREEZING & LAG

It's sad when mods are required to fix a badly made game. I don't understand Bethesda. They had this problem with Fallout 4, players made a few optimization mods which fixed many of the problems, including long loading times. One of the long loading time mods just disables the in engine FPS Cap during loading screens, adds a higher cap of like 350, on an HDD it really helps loading by cutting maybe 1-2 minutes per loading screen, but on a SSD it can equal 5 second loading times. Which is nuts. Yet this wasn't implemented by Bethesda into Starfield.

There are already texture packs for Starfield to reduce VRAM usage. Again something people had to do for Fallout 4 because even on good hardware some parts of the map would have large FPS tanks heavy stuttering etc.

Modern Devs seem obsessed with ultra HD Textures, which is stupid.

The HDD fix was inevitable. Not sure why bethezda droped the ball on this. I temporarily installed it on my 256ssd waiting for this. Now I can free my OS drive and go back to classic HDD.

Just a few Lag Spikes but doesn't last seconds anymore. Feels like Skyrim back in thw day with its sudden stops for a bit

THANK YOU SO MUCH! You have no idea how badly I was lagging almost every few secs in New Atlantis, now it's sooo smooth.

Absolutely nothing works on my end. Installed script extender and the disk cache enabler thru vortex. Same stutter, delayed audio and insane loading times. However ive got an even bigger problem. Ive got 150 gb free on my ssd, and when i try to install Starfield to it, it says it only needs 130 gb however when installing it goes way over that limit, heavier than 150gb even... making me wait for nothing and just to delete all the files again. I do not understand why this is happening nor there is no help online about this issue, Bethesda games releases are always a fucking nightmare but this is way too fucking much.. ive no idea what to do other than to share this idiocy on here

i add a few performance and graphic mod ( i have rtx 3060) the problem only i dont have another ssd, with this mod i can run perfectly on my hdd on ultra, thanks! i always thought i have to bought another ssd only to play this game, now i dont have to

i used sfse0.1.0 on a no-steam version and it works like magic "out of the box"!

seems like they excluded support for no-steam versions from 0.1.2

Does this work with xbox game pass vs steam? EDIT: Ended up buying on Steam (Was going to end up doing this anyway). Downloaded the mods, seemed ok at first but then went back to freezing and audio desync issues. I have the specs to run this game btw. The only thing I think may be the issue is that neither starfield or the mods are downloaded onto my OS drive (250gb hooray!) Other than that doesn't feel like anything changed, especially in high density areas like Jemison. I can and have played all the AAA games on HDD with no issues whatsoever. Might be time to just give in and buy an SSD. It's been two weeks since it's release so you'd think they'd prioritize this but I digress.

This is why SSD's are Very BAD - They are Way Too fast! - Starfield Is a Microsoft Game. Windows is Famous for windows updates causing bloat that slows the system down. Microsoft may be Pushing SSD's (under the guise of it's Bethesda company) to compensate for the bloat people will get on Win 10 and 11. If you can't tell your system is slowing down due to bloat, you will never look for and Remove that bloat. Best thing Windows users can do that use an SSD is to disable or Remove Windows Updates Completely with a tool like AME Wizard.

(NVIDIA GTX 6GIG dedicated 1660TI with max Q design laptop 16gig ram). if it wont work, what would you advise i do??
