This reminds me of my first time playing Monopoly with a friend. We would roll the dice, move our player and always gain as much money as it was written on the new position. When the bank had no more money, we'd see who got more and that person won...

Used to follow some of these 'rules' as a child, lol.
Playing with unsleeved cards on the grass or pavement.
Can't believe I used to do that too and think it was the most normal thing in the world.
Ran outta cards? Well, it's not fun if you don't have cards to play. Go ahead and just draw a new grip of cards, so we can keep going.
We always ran with tributes, but we would often misinterpret card effects. To be honest, that one wasn't entirely our fault, since YGO cards didn't exist in my native language (Dutch), so we had to learn from the english and our english was very poor, since we were like 8-9. A lot of things we just made up on the spot and then forgot again next time the card came up, so we'd make up something new. No one cared, because we all did it. No actual rules, just kids having fun with their toys and their imagination

I remember me and my friends made up a rule that allows ou to draw 2 cards in the draw phase if we needed to. 😂 We ended up reverse it because we always draw 2 😂

Me as a stupid gamer kid:
I have no idea whats going on, so i summon tiny zombie man and imagine his epic custom animation in my head.

I don't remember the player anymore but years past in MtG there was a pro player who was asked "why do you play 4 Lightning Bolts?" and he answered "because I can't play 5". The Monster Reborn section reminded me of that lol

Kinda sad when i remember these days from 2000 - 2006 primary school. When live wasnt full of war, propaganda, thoughts about economics or the future 😢 late 90s early 2000s where smooth

Bruh! Memories! We had a standard rule of discarding to draw! And MST negated!

Omg the drawing 5 new cards because you didn’t have any in your hand was so accurate lmao, we used to draw back to 6 after every turn, my deck also had Slifer so he’d normally have 6K Atk because of that rule lol. We also played with the “Egyptian Gods are immune to all card effects” rule, so because i had a 6K Atk monster that was immune to everything I normally won😂

Craziest rules we used?

Using the original (unusable) egyptian god cards which we gave several of the anime effects (which mostly correspond to the effects of their playable versions we have now), rules we used where:

Slifer 1000 atk/def per card in the hand & every opposing summoned monster loses 2000 atk and is destroyed if it goes to 0 atk.

Obelisk sacrifice 2 monsters to destroy all opposing monsters and deal 4000 damage.

Ra pay 1000 lp to destroy 1 monster + lifepoint transfer to ra's attack, and ra's atk and def are combined atk/def of the monsters used to tribute summon it.

All required 3 tributes, all 3 where destroyed after one turn if special summoned, all 3 where immune to target effects).

Ofcourse not many people had real god cards, one kid had a terrible obviously fake slifer, and one had a better fake obelisk, and people had to agree with those of us who had a god card so we could use it and agree on it's effects, to make sure everyone was okay with it, I atleast wouldn't use them if anyone disagreed, funny enough few disagreed, pre synchro this was reasonably good, especially as nobody had the actually good or even broken cards of the day, it was all spamming blue eyes, red eyes, dark magician etc, so then getting an egyptian god card out was quite huge.

We Didn't really do anything crazier then this tbh, sure accidental mistakes that most kids made with some confusing card texts, especially as english isn't our native language, but really not much else, me and the people I played with Didn't really do the made up rules cheating thing, what's the point of doing that anyway, using the unusable egyptian gods was bad enough really, no we did our best to as much as we could the official rules, and no anime bullshit (besides the egyptian gods), no normal summoning a blue eyes etc without a tribute, only once a kid cheated by having his friend who was the judge put his best card on top of his deck when he shuffled it, so the judge was in on it, note he was not any kind of official judge, otherwise things where pretty fair, there where instances of a person stealing cards though, sad sad person really.

Man I was 5 to 6 years old during the time i played Yu-Gi-Oh with My big brother and Watch the Original TV Series. Now Yu-Gi-Oh is not the same and im still confused with the new cards they have came out. Like Pendulum or Synchro Summoning cards, and also the new rules have changed a lot. What happened to my Fusion Monsters being powerful? Its like all the new Yu-Gi-Oh Cards rely on Monster with effect cards is the only way to beat a monster on the field or How many Monsters you can summon in one Turn with those darn stupid Infinite Effects.😢 But hey, the old-school will always be cherished and I thank you for putting out this Video. Thank You.

That fusion summon had me dead!! Have vivid memories of doing that when i first got cards

I remember being a kid me and my friend played a lot of yugioh, by the rules of the show of course, we had no idea there were actual rules, those booklets that came with the decks? In the trash, it wasn't a card or a playing mat so it was useless. Then one day my older sisters friend hears we play yugioh and says "oh I'll bring my deck over and I'll duel you guys." Me and my friend were hyped, there was no way he was gonna beat our Kaiba and Yugi decks, they were too strong. So he gets there and immediately as we start he tells us we're playing wrong. Then he proceeds to help us rebuild our decks and make them legal, then beats the brakes off us with Mystic Tomato, Witch of the Black Forest and Sangan shenanigans.
