I have a scientific mind and if you've never ever seen a UFO you wouldn't really understand so keep believing in your religion until you do then that will deeply impact what you truly believe because then everything that you thought you knew would be completely and totally turned the f*** upside down

I believe most who say they believe in science
are not saying they don't believe in the God as presented by man which is a human construct that uses an alleged infallible book as God's perfect word. All religions on earth are human constructs. Within Christianity itself there are more than 1000 denominations because of differences of interpretation. I personally believe in God with all my mind heart and soul but I didn't find God in any historical books, which is what the Bible is, but within myself and is vastly different than every man-made religion I've studied.

i dont know about other people but when i say i believe in science i think i mean the things we can measure, predict and observe. we can measure the distance from a planet we can observe a planet and we can predict its movement/orbit, this doesnt apply to god. you want to believe in that, its fine just know that the people you are arguing with wants proof, undeniable proof at that. what you cannot do with god

I love both!! I believe they are just two sides of the same coin.
My faith inspires me to learn science and science in turn strengthens my faith. Because the more I learn science the more I see how amazing God's design is.
Our divine purpose as human beings is to dominate, subdue and fill the Universe, the scientific method is simply the most powerful tool we have to accomplish that divine purpose.
But unfortunately as history has shown we humans always pervert the blessings we are given and in this era people are only taking science as the objective truth, i.e: false God.

No, just no. Right off the bat you’re defining your terms to fit your argument , you’re using strawman like I “believe” in science.
The issue is epistemology. Faith is an epistemology that is at odds with science and it’s epistemology. People are complicated and can except two contradictory things, or incompatible ideas at a time. But the worldview that the epistemology of science presents is at odds with the worldview that the faith based epistemology presents. And the results of the process of science, the model that has been developed, is at odds with any religious received wisdom model. Time to accept one is man (not woman) made (religion) and one is humanities honest attempt in understanding itself and the world around us. Not to mention science doesn’t have to brainwash children before they are taught how to reason or think for themselves. Taught what to believe before given the reasons to believe, is backwards, and it goes without saying, antithetical to scientific reasoning.

Per former Harvard professor of Marketing and MIT graduate Roy Schoeman.
Science methodology teaches us to look at the data, formulate a hypothesis and then check the data to see if it is true. When data contradicts the hypothesis then one discards the first and comes up with a second until the data and idea match.
MIT culture is that religion was created in the middle centuries to explain things beyond their understanding. Now is the age of true science and only therein we can find reality.
MIT refuses to examine any of the tons and tons of concrete scientific data supporting Catholicism. There is Lourdes with its ongoing medically observed and verified miracles, Fatima with the spinning sun falling to earth witnessed by 50-70 thousand people, some of whom were atheists or communists and present only to laugh at the Christian believers. There is the shroud of Turin, the burial cloth of Jesus that modern science is incapable of duplicating. There is the tilma of St. Juan Diego; made of cactus fibers that only last around 20-30 years before completely rotting away but still exists with its image of Mary intact for over 500 years.
MIT’s response: Turn away from anything involving Catholic religion. Deny it scientific process.

I don't believe in science because incomplete knowledge is as good as no knowledge at all. As much as I appreciate the fact that the Chruch has always embraced knowledge, there are certain aspects of "science" which the Church nowadays seems to be submitting itself to, and not the other way around. Meaning that now Truth is changing by the dictates of those who by their incomplete knowledge have gained some measure of power by which they have imposed their will upon the Church, it seems. I mean, just look at the West. Are we ruled by a God-centered worldview or a godless worldview? It's obviously the latter. So how much does it warp even that which we know when we're forced to view the world through a purely naturalistic perspective whether we like it or not? I would say that very few people alive today in the West truly know what the cosmos looks like precisely because.... godlessness is kind of like a bad mind-altering drug, except it's a permanent bad trip. It's a persistent madness. How can we trust a persistent madness? Also, how can the Church justify compromising with this madness so much? This is the same Church which initiated the Inquisitions. That same Church is now compromising on blessing even the most obvious of biological lies, and that's just heresy.

Therein lies the danger. We should not have ever given "science" such a long and thin leash... because that leash is now broken. We have a nuclear arsenal powerful enough to destroy the world dozens of times over. We have the ongoing destruction of the environment due to technological and therefore capitalist progress. We are now toying with the idea of inviting what essentially might be demons onto our world from the abyss of "outer space" whatever that is.... because obviously we've all been there and can confirm what the science INDUSTRY says is true (we have not, we cannot). How long until "science" comes up with some "undeniable fact" about how men can be women and even worse what if they bring the children into that abomination? Oh science has shown that children and adults can have romantic relationships! Ohhh okay. Here ya go, science. Here's the last of our morals... and while you're at it, take our children and do terrible things to them.

In my opinion... science is the worst and most offensive idol to have ever arisen from the minds of men. I type this on a computer, so who am I to speak? Yet... if technology and science had not totally taken over every facet of our culture.... I might not be able to type to you from far away on a laptop.... but ya know what? I'll bet we would be talking face to face instead.

I think you have it wrong. Right of the bat. Truth is based on what you did not mention the whole time, EVIDENCE. No religion claim of the supernatural has any whatsoever. Yes some famous religious people were in history found many scientific Truths, when the same standard is applied to religion, it comes up sofar, with zero evidence. Nice attempt at whitewashing the reality of not having scientific evidence. Athiest here, a happy person, whith zero "ache in the heart"

The problem with this controversy between Science vs Religion, is “Religion” is a cesspool of LIES, hungry for power, influence, and above all else money, rather than what it should be; a beacon of TRUTH! This ABSOLUTE TRUTH only comes to individuals by loving and seeking the scriptures, not by following a man-made religion!
We can view the Word of God as the “Matrix” of reality. A supernatural software program that holds within its text the hidden KEY, that once found through diligent search, opens up the human mind not only to the understanding of God, but of all the mysteries mankind craves for!
I thank God for my natural skepticism and not just taking the word of someone else’s understanding of the Bible, but rather my need to seek the Truth for myself!
I had searched for the truth ever since I was a little child. Never approaching religious dogma but rather science and physics in particular. I was a person that needed to understand things in order to believe in them.
Although I was not interested in church nor it’s rituals, being a Catholic by tradition not choice, I did believe in a creator God due to the complexity, organization, and majesty I observed in nature.
In a turn of events in my life I came to the utter realization that “science” was never going to save my soul. It was at this point that I joined a little non-denominational Christian church, walked down its aisle October of 1991, and received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I was prayed over by the pastor and told at that moment I was saved and going to Heaven. Really? That’s it? I didn’t feel any different, my motives, thoughts, and desires were exactly the same as before. Am I suppose to just take this Pastor’s word and trust what he says? I think not!
This is when I decided to dig into the Holy Bible with the same fervor and zeal I had always studied science. I didn’t submit myself to any denominational doctrine or any pastoral authority, but rather bought the King James Bible on CD and decided to listen to it passionately in those wasted hours during rush hour traffic. This was a total of 15 hrs of word a week for over 3 years. That’s a lot of Word! My reasoning was if what pastors are using to teach and guide their congregations is the Bible, why not study it on your own? I’m certainly not going to trust my soul to some guy with what I saw as a MAN MADE degree in theology; my eternal destiny is way too important for me not to do my homework!
My biblical endeavor allowed me to not only have scores and scores of scriptures memorized, but also entire CHAPTERS memorized verbatim, word for word. I could tell you what is in the Bible, and what is not. I had a tremendous amount of scriptures in my head, yet the TRUE meaning and understanding of them had not yet DOWNLOADED into my heart.
This would soon change one Saturday morning March 25, 1995 while alone at the beach in my car, listening to Hosana integrity Worship music, reading the Bible, and loving God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength! That day I remember reading to “love your enemies”, something I could never see myself doing; how can you possibly love someone causing you harm? This is something that to me defied all understanding! I remember putting my Bible down and looking up to the sky with my heart simply overwhelmed with love towards God and fantasizing about how beautiful it would be to be just like Jesus!
Suddenly it happened, it really happened! I saw something open within my mind and all that word I had accumulated for years came rushing in, and in that one sweep powerful things took place. First I felt the DEMONS that had lived inside me all my life and I never even knew were there jump out of me with a hideous screech. Second, my eyes were opened to a spiritual realm that is hidden to us in plain sight. And third, my brain processes had skyrocketed to levels I never knew the brain was even capable of!
I sat there in my car trembling in fear not knowing what was happening pleading and asking God for help. Of course He obliged by bringing some of those memorized scriptures to the forefront of my mind:

“My son, if thou wilt receive my Words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the FEAR OF THE LORD, and find the KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.”
(Proverbs 2:1-5)

When I picked up the Bible and looked at its pages it was simply unbelievable! The Words had become HOLOGRAPHIC, as if they were hovering just above the pages with 3-D like qualities! No contradictions whatsoever! There is no way man wrote this; I thought! How can mere men write a book in 3-D? The Word’s perfection was absolutely staggering! Every parable, every scripture I didn’t quite seem to understand before, was as plain as if reading a children’s book!

“Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my Spirit unto you, I will make known my Words unto you.”
(Proverbs 1:23)

“All the Words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.”
(Proverbs 8:8-9)

Everything the Bible speaks about was TRUE, and I was experiencing it first hand!

“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:”
(Proverbs 2:6-11)

It was also while I was experiencing this in all its glorious splendor that God revealed to me the True Gospel! It was then I was shocked to realize “Oh my Lord! This means we’re not suppose to sin at all! Once again the fear of the Lord flooded me! I had sinned all my life; I had been told that we are sinners by nature; I was convinced that it is impossible not to sin; but now it was as if I’m going to have to live the rest of my life walking on egg shells! That’s impossible! I thought; There is no way I can do this! The Lord suddenly showed me that no one makes us sin, but rather we CHOOSE to sin. It suddenly dawned on me, you’re right Lord, I know what is right, and I know what is wrong, I will just “choose” to do what is right! I don’t have to sin anymore! I was full of joy and excitement ready to start living my new life walking in the FAITH of the gospel! I couldn’t help but burst into tears when I realized God had planned this moment from the beginning of time when I read:

“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.”
(2 Thessalonians 2:13-15)

People, I have taken the time to write this long post as a testimony of God’s love and faithfulness to those that diligently SEEK and LOVE Him.
The Bible is “GOD” in written form:

If A=B , and B=C, then A=C

A=GOD , B=JESUS, C=WORD

If GOD=JESUS,
and JESUS=WORD
then GOD=WORD

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD.”
(John 1:1)

But as it turns out the WORD is also the HOLY SPIRIT!

“It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the WORDS THAT I SPEAK UNTO YOU, they are SPIRIT, and they are life.”
(John 6:63)

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the SPIRIT, which is the WORD OF GOD.”
(Ephesians 6:17)

So the equation is now :

GOD = WORDSPIRIT or G=WS

When God takes the BEAM out of your eye spoken of by Jesus that hinders you from SEEING CLEARLY and you realize those WORDS are speaking directly to you once the HOLY SPIRIT enters you, it turns the equation into:

G = WS^2 (squared)

Now doesn’t science claim that everything is made out of “ENERGY” which they themselves have shown is E=MC^2 (squared)?

“There is no WISDOM nor UNDERSTANDING nor COUNSEL against the LORD.”
(Proverbs 21:30)

TALK ABOUT CHECKMATE!!!

“By the WORD of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”
(Psalms 33:6)

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my WORDS shall not pass away.”
(Matthew 24:35)

“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my WORDS, hath one that judgeth him: the WORD that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”
(John 12:48)

HENCE THE IMPORTANCE OF FINDING OUT WHAT THE “WORD” HAS TO SAY!

God Bless.

Religion was the vice that constricted science’s inevitable emergence. Look at Galileo, he was a man of science. He was also locked up by the church because of that. Though he made great discoveries, they were suppressed by the church. You find that a lot in history actually.

am happy to see more and more people rejecting religion as the world progresses with more education as the ignorant or the natural objects that religions feed on. In the U.S. and elsewhere religion is the greatest scam of all time. People with children would be ostracized in their community if they did not go to church, synagogue or temple etc...Where would they get married or have funerals etc. It is so ingrained in our culture that even your date of birth is directly tied to the birth of Christ I was born in the year of our Lord 1947 for example YIKES), your currency is inscribed with “In God We Trust" as is the Courtroom where justice is administered. It is all there from the moment you are born and very easy to get suckered into and hard to break away from depending on where you live and your local community.

Faith vs reason comes from the Protestant Reformation. The world doesn't know the difference between Protestantism and Catholicism so they apply "faith vs reason" with the RCC. Meanwhile, that idea was to spite the RCC. So, now when scientists debate Christians, the Catholics are always left out of the conversation. If we were put back in, we would tie both ideas together and no one wants that.

I am sure you will agree that science is considered a hard science.

My position is that science is a "culture of evidence" based belief, whilst religion is a "culture of faith."

"Religion and science are like oil and water. They might co-exist, but they can never mix to produce a homogeneous medium. Religion and science are fundamentally incompatible. They disagree profoundly on how we obtain knowledge of the world. Science is based observation and reasoning from observation. Religion assumes that human beings can access a deeper level of information that is not available by either observation or reason. The scientific method is proven by its success. The religious method is refuted by its failure."
