I still like cold showers, but you make a lot of good points. The only benefits I’ve found is the euphoric feeling after you get used to it and just more cold tolerance after you get into the habit of it. Also I live in a hot place 🤷

ОтветитьCold shower in summer yes it feels great 1 or 2 hours after workout , in winter it s hot shower after workout and a good rest , in the morning i suggest washing face and hands with cold is refreshing to be ready to go outside in the cold , and if someone tries to build an ability to be more resistant to cold and better metabolism i think 15 mins walking outside with summer t shirt for exemple could have it s benefit , but the direct shock waking up warm to frozen directly by cold water is unacessary , and that willpower of resisting pain to grind could be focused in something more rewardable and less painful. Personaly i enjoy walking in cold area with summer or spring clothes , then i go walk in area with rays of sun enjoying the warm , if no sun i go back home and wear the winter clothes if it s too cold.
ОтветитьThings are not black and white.I get your message on the video,we do have limited energy/discipline throughout the day so we should use it on things that benefit us the most and on a wholesome level. No reason to make things and life harder than it is.However cold showers do have their place once in a while (maybe after enough days,weeks, months) we shouldn't just say they're a scam. No point in being this absolute.
ОтветитьI don’t agree with your claim that cold showers are merely a stressful addition to life. It is a fact that cold showers make you more resilient to stress in the long run. Life will break you. It is only a matter of time. Each time you embark in a cold shower you do exactly just that. You break yourself on a smaller scale. They prepare you for this furnace of a world. Maybe I too will change my mind once I get older and life gets busier. Maybe this change of mind will be valid. Or maybe will it be but an excuse. However, I believe that for people who want to achieve a lot they are vital. In the end, I think there is a time and place for them in everybody’s life. So long as it is manageable, I see it as a way to help and carry my cross.

The only fact about cold exposure is that you regenerate better after cardio and strength endurance. A lot of influencers are talking sh*t about cold plunges and stuff like that but you are talking sh*t too. you can't talk about science.

ОтветитьScottish showers are the way to go IMO, best of both worlds but if you use cold, try to use it in the morning after waking up or at least a few hours apart from your weight training.

ОтветитьCold showers are not a “scam”. Cold water is invigorating, refreshing and relaxing afterwards. I didn’t follow or need some guru to psyche me. It’s just a logical decision. Water is cold in most of the world naturally. Very few hot springs in the world. Hot water strips your skin of natural oils too. Hot water makes me feel lethargic and limp. To each his own.
Discipline isn’t some limited resource. It can grow with cold exposure.
I feel a cognitive boost regarding mood and find it as energising as the liquid cocaine most people pacify themselves to wake up (aka coffee). But it’s simultaneously relaxing too, unlike coffee.
Enjoy your cosy warm shower.
I prefer a cold (and quick) shower in the morning to wake up. Just a few seconds of ice cold water. Afterwards a short workout or some mobility excercises, 0.5 L of water and a good breakfast. After that, I feel ready for the day. It avoids the caffeine, so I do not depend on that, like a lot of other people do.

If a cold shower stresses you out and requires that much discipline, you probably have a lot of other issues. Just like if having slightly longer hair is that much of a stumbling block to you that you have to buzz your head.. again what made you that way, I assure you is still there. Just as crazy as it is to say, cold showers are the cure all, its just as ignorant to say its a scam. We're not talking wisdom were talking semantics and harvesting views and comments for revenue when the inevitable disagreements arrive. A stoic man doesn't click bait. You can have it both ways fellas. You can take care of your hair and body and not be vain, you can take a cold and warm shower when you want. Hot showers have been shown to decrease sperm count temporarily so i just do medium warm showers
ОтветитьHello David, it seems you misunderstood the concept of applying cold water into your life. Let me explain, we should take cold shower ONLY in the morning when our body is full of cortisol abd testosterone that kinda prepare us for it, and by doing so you will get all the benefits of the cold shower. BUT taking it after the gym session or in the end of the day is a very bad idea and just as you said it is truly better not to overstress the body abd let it relax, as we prepare for the sleep and by taking that cold shower instead of a regular one you will increase your cortisol level and that will eventually stop your melatonin production and it ultimately will lead to some problems with falling asleep. Hope you got me right 👍
