Lake Ontario Rocks! | Rockhounding for Lake Ontario Beach Stones

I live fairly close to here and have found some amazing rocks from that beach. I’ve been collecting rocks this way most of my life and had, past tense, quite a collection from my travels from all over the country. Set them free at my last house in the back yard patio so they could enjoy life….not sure how the So. CA rocks liked the winter tho. 😂

It is illegal to remove anything from a property you do not own.

Ive had this video in my mind for almost a year. And tomorrow I’m finally going to Bevs dairy treat to visit this beach for rockhounding!

How different is this section of the Great Lakes from Lake Erie? We regularly collected glass and bricks near the Mentor Headlands.

Mate I love along seneca lake a little over an hour away from Lake Ontario. I always go there for fossils interesting to know there more things to find

Did you ever get names for these rocks?? I was at the a similar beach, same lake and area, and the rocks I collected where crazy with variety but I don't know names, so many translucent rocks, perfectly round. Many I would never guess, so I tested them so many were semi translucent. I am new to round hounding so I don't know... The red banding... jasper?

I’m not sure if you have them here on the south beach of Lake Ontario but I’m on the opposite side up here in Canada and I’ve been trying to identify with little white pebbles that are translucent. Are they just quartz? They seem too pigmented and not transparent enough to be quartz

I love rock hunting, since I live next to a great lake I find alot of rlly pretty cow speckled rocks and geode shards and cool agates!!
