This might be the worst piece of media I've ever seen. Such a terrible confluence of trends around the lifestylisation of mental health. It's insane to me that psychoanalysis went from genius polymaths like Freud casually drawing on the breadth of human history, religious traditions and literary canon to synthesize a novel understanding of man to children playing with building blocks. It's like watching a toddler dressed up as an adult for Halloween, only without the innocence this would imply.

You chose to raise psyche (and thus influence) so that you don’t need “intellect”. As someone who gets put on a pedestal a lot, I say that’s wrong. Sometimes I have to be careful what I say to friends, because people will take it on at a deep level as a personal belief. For me this is annoying so I avoid it. But if I were solving a crime and unintelligent, it would make it very difficult if others believed only my stupid theories.

He didn't stop to get hit in the feels by the trumpets? I worry for this fellow's emotional capacity...

I didn't know klassje's last line in this scene could change. I thought it was always "and for the record, I didn't do it."

One thing you'll notice playing it is that failing a red check isn't really actually a "fail," it just makes a dialogue or scene play out differently, and often times the "failure" can have a much better or funnier result, so don't worry too much about whether you pass or fail things as you play.

Also, if you like Inland Empire and are investing a lot in it, you really should go get that tie.

I just finished this game, was looking for how people played it and find out this channel.

I think you'll have some fun with this one, but the game is more political than psychological.
If the issues that happen in this fictional world isn't familiar to you, you'll probably miss a lot of the game deep.

was excited to see this playthrough, 30 minutes in and it's ruined by the backseating of Bionic and Search in your chat. Screaming to do certain dialogue, hinting you towards the shoe and tie and mirror. So annoying that some people can't just watch someone play a game and enjoy it.

The always tough part of watching a DE play through and thinking "Oh no, they missed [such and such] moment" before realising I'm also going to see a bunch of moments I or others missed in their play through.

Might not have been super healthy for my si to listen to the ancient reptilian brain so seductively extol the virtues of nothingness, but hey! A good nap fixes most things.

When I tell people about this game I tell them, this is a game that will make you want to punch a child... and then laugh at you for trying... and probably failing.

Don't know what that says about me psychologically.

Nikolai Gogol (one of the great russian/ukrainian 19th century authors) wrote and rewrote his novels for up to ten times before publishing, sometimes taking years to let them "ferment". You should try it with your novel. You kinda already are.

def interested in a playthrough like this. between the game's really unique prose, it's definitively marxist approach to history/politics and its really interesting honesty and realism when it comes to our protagonists' psychology, there is a facinating commitment to a scientific approach to a nonsensical world. it creates such an interesting feeling when playing it and i def wanna see more analysis of the psyhological aspect like this.

I played it to the end once and I missed a lot of stuff. Tried several second playthrough ideas. But I couldn't bring myself to continue a 'evil' run. Got somewhat burned out on a maximum psych run... so, this is going to be great to watch. I guess I'll choose my next RP approach depending on what path this LP ends up taking.

The very first time I played this, I reached up to remove the tie from the ceiling fan, had a heart attack, then died.

It was great

I understand why its in the game, but I really do think that creating your own character instead of just using one of the presets is VERY important for establishing how the game actually works and what each skillset is actually used for, it is much, much more complex and in-depth than most people will assume and its really important that you read through and fully understand every single one of your skills before commiting to a build. For example, the type of build I think you originally wanted to play would have been one that invested in Intellect and Psyche for Drama, Empathy, and Suggestion, as well as a bit of Rhetoric and Conceptualization. Unfortunately, picking a preset not only means you lost the opprotunity to read your skills before committing to a build, it also means the game didn't tell you about skill caps, which with only a handful of exceptions are hard-set from the very beginning to the very end, which means that point you put into Rhetoric was a massive waste and completely useless, a mistake that wouldn't have happened if the game just had a slightly better onboarding process that actually explained these very important things.
