I don’t get cruises. Get on a plane charter a boat or yacht eat at real restaurants, cruise sounds disgusting

In 2017, before Covid, I sailed on the Disney Dream. I had just touched 18 years old and it was an incredibly memorable experience even though I was at an awkward age so I couldn’t be with the teens or the adults in the bar 😂

This ship feels… less open than the Dream. I like the idea of it. I like the Tangled themed concierge deck. But it’s not worth paying that amount of money to get subpar quality stuff. The Dream was amazing. I gained 10 pounds. The pirate night + snacks were so much fun 😭

But yeah. This ship looks unorganized and hectic. Closed off too. Real sad.

Disney released a book about the design of the new Triton-Class ships, and one chapter is titled, "if it ain't broke, fix it anyway." That is the perfect description of where they went wrong with the Wish. They knew some things needed improvement, but instead of making small changes and seeing how they work in reality, they went overboard (pun intended) and rearranged literally everything. It seems almost random what things ended up better and which things became worse. The only intentional improvement the Wish has over its predecessors is that the crew accomodations are much roomier and more thoughtful.

I love when you used the word baffle, because it is always on point. it baffles me too that someone designed literal viewing chairs that look directly into an expensive suite. great video, keep it up!

So firstly, as someone with epilepsy, this ship looks like a nightmare. Even with my screen tinted and brightness way down, my head hurts from things like that water slide and the avengers restaurant.

I just went on an adult-oriented (children allowed but kind of discouraged) cruise this summer, and before that the last cruise I went on was when I was 10––the Disney Wonder 4 nights through the Bahamas. It's been 20 years since then and my whole family still talks about that trip and how wonderful the cruise was and how much fun we had. We talked this summer, cousins and aunts and uncles and everyone, about taking a Disney cruise in the future when all the little ones were a bit bigger and could interact and enjoy more things on a cruise. Now? Now I'm going to try to talk them out of it, or at least this particular ship. Thank you for the thorough review! I'm emailing it to my cousins and siblings now so everyone can watch and we can discuss a better option for the little ones' first big family reunion trip!

I still wonder how Americans love to be scammed on expensive cruise ships and be treated as sheep's... Never understood how someone can like being packed on a infection box with other thousands of persons...
No doubt that American people have a very awkward notion on vacations and fun...! I rather prefer spending the same money on a travel and experience by my own instead of being in a place created to make you spend as much money as possible... and have standardised "experiences"... Might be great for old farts... but not for me...!

Coming back to this video a year later while majoring in naval architecture is most certainly an experience. Great video!

You're right- why would they eliminate the benches from the window seats? On our last cruise on Fantasy, we were too tired on Pirate Night to go back up on deck to watch the fireworks. Instead, we went back to the room and laid on that bench to watch them. It was one of my favorite memories from the cruise because it was such an unexpected pleasure. All the little details like this absolutely do matter!

Hi Jake, we just got off the fantasy today. I was shocked on how many people on the ship including cast members had been on the wish and DID NOT like it either. They also just released the details of the treasure which doesn’t look like it will be much better. Also, it looks like the treasure will be taking over for the fantasy on the Caribbean cruises in 2025. I sure hope that the fantasy will still be based out of port Canaveral otherwise, this may be the end of me going on DCL

I feel like complaining about lore minutiae that’s featured as part of a whole restaurant experience is kind of ridiculous. If Nintendo ever made a Zelda themed restaurant, I can’t imagine myself bitching about some minor detail like then bringing back a deceased character for a little media segment made solely for the restaurant. And I would lose my shit if the person I went with made a fuss about it like a little kid, too.

Also, people have got to remember these cruises are designed for families with kids, not young adults in their 20s and 30s. You’re paying for your KIDS’ experience, not for the things you would normally expect on a cruise meant for adults.

Who doesn’t like Frozen?

"Enchantment" as a theme basically seems like an excuse to throw in all sorts of IPs without having much need for cohesiveness. For something set to be a "castle on the sea", none of it really feels like you're in one, given how many different themes and locations they have, at least from what I see here. Like, does a Disney princess fantasy fable like Frozen have the same sort of "enchantment" as a Marvel action superhero film? Or a nostalgiac ode to the 1920s and Disney's production history? I'm not saying it's impossible to have some kind of theme between different properties, but it'd require more effort and careful choice between them, I think.

Am curious, where did you get the Disney fantasy model from?

While I'm by no means the target audience, nor a veteran cruiser (my fist one should hopefully be this year). My main problem with just about anything Disney nowadays is the price. Disney as a whole has done nothing but increase prices, for little return on our end. Heck I've been to Disney land twice total, and if I wanted to go next year it would more then likely be just me, which is a no go.

The conveyor belt in the AquaMouse looks like something out of a cannery.

Solely from an astehic perspective, the older ships were infinitely superior. They were literal works of art, while the modern one... Is basically just a cruise ship with a lot of fantasy castles design elements on the exterior, an specific Disney IP themes at different spots throughout the interior.

The 5k drink is not passes for 4 people, only 1. And it is sparkling wine. Champagne ONLY comes from Champagne, France. This doesn't.

It’s really sad that they just abandoned the art deco theme that the previous ships had. The wish also just seems very aggressively laid out

I have never felt that any of the Disney ships really have adult only areas, kids walk through all areas on all of the ships.

There will be a newer ship of the Disney fleet is called the Disney treasure coming out in the mid 2024
