Hi!
Thanks for the good review.
How do you fix the battery issue? The original mercure battery PX625 are not availlable anymore...
Thanks for your support concerning my question.
Best regards.
Hey really love your content this is awesome . What is your preferred camera you use for filmmaking, I'd love to have a conversation and maybe even collaborate on different methods in telling stories through video !
ОтветитьOh fuck yes...mumble rap segway music!
ОтветитьBeast of a camera! Raaaaaaaaangefiiiiiiiiiiinders are awesome cameras. I like them more than SLR cameras. Also, I've fixed 3 of them with "broken" lightmeters. They've all had a broken battery lead. Easy fix.
Ответитьnice review bro THXS!
Ответитьjust got mine last week! picking up the battery tmr! so excited to shoot! (btw what light meter app do u use?)
ОтветитьHi is it easy to zone focus on this camera?
ОтветитьHi there! Where can i find this camera?? I want it so badly!
ОтветитьWell this camera has actually 3 setting for exposure... auto mode shutter speed priority, flash mode, and manual mode. Also, you can t compare it s lens to a nikon f3... It depends of what lens you use on your nikon... I can assure you you can have super sharp lenses on that camera. The nikon f3 was a super professional top of the line camera. The canonet has a pretty uncommon 40mm lens... In between 35mm and 50mm... But it is a great lens. The viewfinder you described has actually a frame that I think to remember actually moves with your focusing distance... So what's inside the frame is what you actually get in the picture, it s called parallax compensation. Rangefinder cameras are great for street fotography because you can keep both of your eyes open and see what is coming in the frame... Rangefinder on these cameras are nowadays very often very dim with little contrast due to the aging of the system. If you have a good one it is a keeper for sure.
ОтветитьThe built-in light meter is nice because it is placed right next to the lens - so when you use filters, the light meter automatically compensates the loss of light due to the filter.
ОтветитьSubbed. Thanks for the info!
ОтветитьWhich do u think is better? Canom ql17 giii or olympus 35sp?
ОтветитьGreat camera!
ОтветитьThanks for the review Josh I got a deal for 45$
ОтветитьGood câmera. Easy to use and practical
ОтветитьJust picked one up for $15. Cleaned it up a bit. Waiting to see how the first roll turned out.
Ответитьbelieve it or not i got mine at a yard sale for $10 plus she was kind enough to add free film on the side.i'm here to get know it more.
ОтветитьHey Josh! What battery do you use for this camera? Thanks!
ОтветитьWhere can I buy one?
ОтветитьComparing the F3 to a range finder is wrong, even as a metaphor.:)
ОтветитьWhere's a good place to pick one of these up for a good deal and in good working condition? I definitely want this camera just nervous as to where to get it cause I've never bought a film camera before... Thanks for the great vid btw!
ОтветитьCameras in my opinion is always a matter of preferences. I got this and a Minolta Hi-Matic 7s because I wanted to compare at least 2 rangefinders. I always read high praises for this camera and I understand why, but I just do not feel 100% comfortable when using this camera. I prefer the Minolta. The QL17 is a good camera though do not get me wrong, but I just never feel in my element when shooting a Canon no matter how hard I sincerly try.
ОтветитьThe code inside the film chamber will tell you the year of manufacture
ОтветитьThe self portrait mirror shot is dope AF
ОтветитьDude..kick ass review! Right to the point. Talking only about the important stuff. KEH has one of these for $350 though 😳.
Ответитьthis review is so well explained! thank u
ОтветитьThe QL17 GIIIS was the last of a series of ever more sophisticated cameras of similar size and function. Its many refinements make it arguably the best, and it certainly was the model most sold. During its period of sales it had a few competitors. The Olympus RD was almost the same size and had identical specifications and function, right down to one of the best lenses ever put on a fixed lens 35mm RF camera. (The Oly RD is much fewer on the ground and commands a higher used price, but offers nothing not found in this Canonet.) They even share a lack of switch to shut off the meter circuit. During the massive switch to digital, these were practically given away. I acquired two units in mint condition at camera swap meets, one for $35, the other for $15. If you acquire one to use regularly, look for two accessories: (1) the custom sized lens hood made for the camera. It slips on the lens, so it does not interfere with filter use, and it is ventilated to not obstruct the viewfinder. (2) The Canon true leather case for the camera. In the USA at least, the camera was sold with a case made of fake leather plastic, as were many cameras right up to Nikons. The plastic proved a poor material choice, as it literally disintegrated over time, which is why you almost never see these cameras with the case which was sold with its package. Canon separately sold a very nice fitted leather case for the camera, pretty rare to find.
ОтветитьThanks for the review.
Over the decades, I have used the following 35mm rangefinder cameras:
My first was an Argus C3 with 35, 50, and 100mm lenses.
My second was a Minolta Hi-Matic 9 with fixed 45mm f/1.7 lens.
My third was a Canon Canonet QL17 G-III with fixed 40mm f/1.7 lens.
My fourth was a Contax G1 with 21, 28, 45, and 90mm lenses.
My fifth was a Leica M6 with 21, 35, and 90mm lenses.
All five were great cameras that produced excellent images.
In my opinion, the Canonet, also known as the poor man's Leica, was a great camera that is still worth it provided you do not need interchangeable lenses.
I have that same exact camera. My grandpa collected cameras…he was a photographer in Japan when he was in the service. And he did some other things like landscapes and special occasions. anyways I got my choice out of some of his cameras and one of them was that camera. I haven’t used it yet. I didn’t know if it was going to be worth it compared to todays cameras. I just have it on a shelf with his photograph now. But Now that I seen you use it I may have to buy some film.
ОтветитьI knew I recognized your hat OkiFam🎉🎉
ОтветитьHello.
Some users note's, that using movie film (like Kodak Vision, or Fujifilm Eterna) in this camera leads to a breakdown of the film transportation mechanism. Do you have a similar experience or what do you think about it?
I’ve been looking at buying one (new to film) but want to learn. I just picked up a Canon FTb at a thrift store and have been learning and I think I have found a new love for vintage film cameras. There’s just something that draws me more to the older Slrs than newer ones. Price also helps lol but yeah I think you’ve convinced me to buy one even though I didn’t need the push 😅. Here’s to all the money I’m about to spend on buying cheap cameras to fix
ОтветитьMy favorite 35mm camera. Light. Affordable. Leaf shutter. If Canon could figure out how to make the same camera in a digital format, they would sell half a billion dollars worth of them every year.
ОтветитьWow love your videos ! Thank you for this !
