Wait…I have the perfect idea…add a valance over the window even with the top of cabinets….you could even add a mirror on top of windows….don’t do sconces unless they are on the side of the cabinets…you need more lamps in the kitchen and not more pot lights,,,they just don’t flatter the famine physique like lamps do….I love your hair…just as pretty as ever..hugs, carolyn from Columbus ga

I wouldn’t bother with changing the handles. You are only going to be there 3 years. The kind you have now blend in and almost disappear. I love the tile the best. I would go with a lighter paint color. I love the sconce idea above the window. Someone else thought the table and chair should be a coffee bar area. I thought the same thing.

I know it's currently fashionable to diss cabinets that don't go to the ceiling, but I disagree. When there is that space there, you can put in some nice hidden lighting that makes a lovely atmosphere. And you can display collections in that space. I enjoyed that set up for years. Now in my new house I have cabinets that go to the ceiling, and it's useless storage space because I need to get a ladder to reach it, and my lovely collection is now in storage.

It is so interesting to hear your ideas and thought process for the changes you have in mind for your kitchen. After you point out certain areas and your ideas for improving them I go, hmmm, yes exactly, I see that now but why didn't I see that before?!! You have such a gift and so much talent!

LOL! "The closest outlet is at my neighbor's house!" It is so interesting how people make design decisions....I'm talking about previous owners and their decisions we find ourselves left to deal with. So, we have this niche. We don't know what to do with it, so we're going to make sure it can't be used for anything......no light, no outlet, etc. SMH!

Well you have great designer skills so you can always take out your meals! You always can’t have it all do what you do best and that is designing in my book. I am amazed at how good you are at that.

I cook 2 times in a year (Thanksgiving and Christmas) that's it .
I had my fair share cooking, years ago, 2 or 3 meals a day, back in the day .

Totally hysterical! 2nd video I'm watching after glass mirror Christmas tree. My main hobby all my life is sewing now with some crafting in retirement. I had to force myself to learn to cook. My norm was turn everything to high on logic it cooks faster, right? and also walk away.,When married what helped me was a 1940s 2 book set my ex inherited from grandmother because it had total basics. All from scratch. I learned to make gravy from anything!

I’m wondering if the opening to the kitchen that’s low is because that was originally a load bearing wall so in order to make it more open they opened that wall up but because it’s load bearing they have to reinforce it somehow. I also love in a historic home in Oklahoma and we recently opened up a wall and the opening had to be lower then I would have liked. So tell me this are you excited or kinda sad to be moving out of your historic home with all that character new homes lack or excited not to have all the work that comes with such an old home? Sometimes I want to plow my home over but then I look at newer build and they just lack something great that these historic homes have. You are definitely married to an older home though and at times can feel like a money put!! 😂

I have the same problem with cooking. I'll start a meal & multi task & usually burn it. One time I boiled all the water out of a pot & melted it on the stove. Luckily, I didn't burn down the house. 🙄

I’m surprised you haven’t painted your kitchen window casing to match your cabinet or put curtains up to make the window look taller.

Raising opening headers was a concept I never knew of before you teaching it. Now I look at everywhere for them.
