Perfect explanation of what seemed to be an impossible task ! Thanks for taking the time to upload it...
ОтветитьFantastic! thx man! Helped me a lot !!!
Ответитьthanks
ОтветитьGreat tutorial, I tried reading and watching other tutorials and people are just so hopeless at writing this stuff in simple terms. This is great. Bookmark and name area needed > Add TOC from Quick Parts > Choose options in TOC quick part (style and bookmark name) done. Why do people have to write essays and show you these 2 hour lectures on the subject?
ОтветитьThere is an empty paragraph right after the ToC. Is there a way to remove that?
ОтветитьThank you so much <3
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьVery clear explanation. Lifesaver for me! Thanks!
ОтветитьThank you so much for this! It saved me a lot of time. Easy and straight to the point!
ОтветитьThank you. you made my document look wonderful.
ОтветитьYes - this is great! Thank you for uploading this!!!
ОтветитьHi Chester, many thanks for this, I'm doing a project for work and this has been a great help. However from the TOC, there is no option that it lets you click on the section you want to go to. Is there anyway to do this, if you want multiple TOC's in the document?
ОтветитьI dont make comments.. but u sure deserve one! THANK YOU SO MUCHH!!!!!!! LIFESAVER!
ОтветитьThank you. But how to hyperlink, individual?
ОтветитьThis is really an eye-opener. You have made my work easier. Thank you so much!
ОтветитьThank you so much
ОтветитьThank you so much for this. This was really helpful
ОтветитьThank you Sir ji
ОтветитьI don't think this works for Mac... no quick parts that I can see.
ОтветитьThank you for this helpful tutorial.
ОтветитьExcellent video, thank you. How does this function affect the presumed master table of contents for a larger document? Will it alter the cumulative table of contents?
ОтветитьGreat! But for some reason my table of contents does not have those (very useful) leader lines. Any idea why? Is there a way to reformat?
Ответитьmany thanks - this has been a great help - very clear
ОтветитьStill works in 2022 in Word 16.67. Thanks for making this video!
ОтветитьVery Helpful!
Ответитьthank you so much for this saved me from getting my assessment returned again :(
ОтветитьWorks great, fantastic thanks!
My added tip would be to create two bookmarks in the document per section that you want to create a TOC for.
One you can name e.g. "A_DescriptionOfSection" and the other simply "A".
So when you want to link to the section, you just use the letter flag "A", "B", "D", whatever. But you do also have the descriptive version in the document too so that you can tell what "A" or "D" is.
cheers!

This video is exceptional. I need to create a table of contents, followed by a table of table, then followed by a table of contents and spent hours thinking about what to do and trying to invent something. I came across your video and you gave a clear answer. Thank you so much!
ОтветитьThank you so much for the tip! Is it possible to show only Heading 1 in this instance?
ОтветитьThank you💜️
ОтветитьSimply beautiful - exactly what I wanted, thank you Chester
ОтветитьGreat explanation. But I do wonder how anyone actually works this sort of stuff out for themselves if they rely solely on the Microsoft help pages.
ОтветитьQUESTION: what if you have a large document with tables and figures interspersed throughout; yet there is a TOC for the headings, a separate TOC for figures and another one for tables? Each time I need to update the table of contents for the figures, Word also wants to replace the original TOC.
ОтветитьThanks Tug
Ответитьwow!! Thank you very much!!! very helpful 🙏🙏
ОтветитьThere seems to be a serious problem with this approach.😪😪😫
This does not work on headings which are made of custom styles 😥😥🙄. This only uses default "Heading1, Heading 2....".
Is there a work around....😌
Thank you so much
ОтветитьThank you so much sir. This is really great. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьThanks
Ответитьgood stuff mate, thanks, id did solved my issue with a huge document
ОтветитьVery straightforward. Thanks for sharing!
Ответить2024 using MS Word 2019 and it still works. Thank you.
ОтветитьNeed your advice. Creating a user manual for an application that supports 3 modes: manual, auto and DB. All the headings and material are applicable to manual mode, while different subsets of the whole are applicable to the auto and DB mode. My goal is to create 3 TOCs, including only those sections that are relevant under each. Possible? If not, can you suggest a suitable alternative? Note: I'll be exporting the docx to pdf and the behaviour must remain consistent.
ОтветитьTHANK YOU so much for this. I was finding a lot of really long explanations of how to do this, but yours is quick and easy. If anyone needs it, this still works in Office 365! I appreciate your posting it!
ОтветитьGreatly appreciated ❤
ОтветитьI followed the instructions, but if I click on the title in the TOC it doesn't link to that section. Any idea why?
ОтветитьI've only seen it done twice but I have worked on large legal documents where the TOC was done in columns; one was located in the front of the document and the other in the back. Both were beautifully done and I've been trying to replicate that.
