Interesting, an attractive idea with even basic nixie clocks costing the same or considerably more. OLED might have been an idea but then burn-in would become an issue. The low contrast and glow of IPS might make them unappealing in a dark room.

RGB ? only setting is OFF, unless your 7 years old with your first gaming setup.

What difference is there between this EleksTube IPS Nixie clock and the NovellLife IPS Nixie Clock?

That one mode looks straight out of Stein's Gate, amazing :D

More to add: If anything; Steins Gate probably made the whole idea of nixie tubes popular again.

I'm seeing a lot of Steins Gate fans in the comment section below (probably because this is a Steins Gate theme clock...) Probably one of the more decent anime-series that were made.

Techmoan: WARNING! While I was reading about the fake ones that fail to display the custom photo and just go blank, I also discovered that many owners are complaining about the last digit (and possibly continuing onward) starts having problems on the screen and it fails to either display the entire picture or the screen driver built into the screen fails. I have not yet looked further into it but I turned my RGB backlight to 10% to keep it under driven. I am not sure if the problem is due to heat inside the ips driver that is build into the 6 displays or if it's heat build up from the back light LED's just adding heat to the structure itself.
I am not an electrical engineer and nor do I have a degree in anything, but I "suspect" that (due to very little google searching) that the individual screen failures are due to the backlight LED's.
All users should either turn them off or set them to 10% mode. Maybe others who own this clock could add some input to this theory and possible discovery of this clock. I did verify that I have a real one and mine works just fine...I've already made a binary custom font for it :)

I got one of these from Amazon, turned out to be fake. I mean a fake clone of eleksmaker. If you try to upload an image, the screen only shows black. Menus still work though.

Is there any way to fix my screen is black?

I got this clock, the people who make it need to have it so all clock types can be stored in the clock itself, eliminating the use for a pc.

i really love it..
but it really need a display dimm or off if no movement , or trigger by external event, so people can make it go off at night, or off/ultra dimm
if not in the room, this way its displays will last a lot longer, and use much less energy. that missing feature is actually the only thing that stops me.

DONT BUY IT! They are shipping a new model that has a BUG that you need to remove the last screen RGB LED to work 'proprerly' (the RGB leds wont work anymore), and it wont work with the stock firmware. BEWARE!!! And the last screen after some hours of use will start glitching.

I bought one and like it, but im a little disappointed I didn't buy a "real" nixie clock, It is well built and fun to be able to switch the clock styles, but just doesn't give you the same retro feel as a true nixie would IMO.

I bought one and programmed it to display numerals as solid panels of the resistor color code. It drives my co-workers crazy.

Oh wow that is absolutely awesome! I'll have to pick one up for myself sometime...*looks at ebay au prices* $259 aud?!?! Dayum lol. I mean I really like them but not for 250 bucks hahah. Not saying it's not worth it of course but I just wouldn't be able to justify spending that much on a clock. If I learnt how to build my own real nixie tube clock I could probably spend a bit less than that and have the real deal. Anyways thanks again for another great video Techmoan.
