I recommend SquareSolar. They are just so much easier to install, and you can really maximize your output since they are modular. Worth checking out.

Correct me if I am wrong about any of this: the solar panels connect to a charger/controller. The charger/controller feeds approximately 12-14 volts to the batteries and inverter.
What the inverter doesn't use is available to the batteries. Seems to me, that ideally, the charger should be connected DIRECTLY to the inverter, so that the electricity avoids the batteries (even though the batteries are connected to the inverter as well). Also, it seems to me that all the negative terminals of the battery should be attached directly to the negative input of the inverter (even though they are indirectly attached to all the batteries) and likewise with the positive terminals. The gauge of the wire feeding the inverter is thicker than the wires coming off of the batteries, so it seems to me that each battery should be connected directly to that thick wire going to the inverter rather than being forced to pass thorough the thin wires coming off of each battery. Does that make sense?

for AC systems... seems to me that you can run it without any battery... just connect the controller to the inverter. of course, any electricity not being used at the time is wasted instead of being stored in the battery.

according to this video your fuse box is connected to the battery positive which is clear. But, I'm under the impression that is another cable from the battery positive to the charge controller. So I see two positive cables going out of the battery cable. One to the fuse box and the other to the charge controller.

Got a solar mystery going and I need your expertise. Running 4x100 watt Harbor Freight panels to an Epever MPPT controller to a 200ah Lifepo4. All relatively new gear. System load is light, newer upright deep freezer and an older small one. They draw less than 400 watts when they're on at the same time. I have a breaker switch that separates the PV from the controller. When I turn that off at night, separating the panels, the battery holds charge fine. If I leave the panels connected to the system, my battery drains down to 11.2 and the BMS shuts it off. I thought the new MPPT controllers were supposed to prevent power from leaching out through the panels? Any thoughts on what might be going on? I've learned a lot from your videos and you are my go-to guy for this question. Thanks!
