CHROMECAST HD vs 4K - Interesting Results

Hiya. I am going to take a tv stick to Indonesia this October, when I see my inlaws. As a gift to someone. Now, they have no Amazon out there. I'm leaning toward Google, rather than something like Xiaomi. Would you agree with my assessment, or not?

Can it take an external storage device with a hub like the older one? I've also got the ultra for my 4ktv and it doesn't. 😢

Can FireStick allow to screencast? I assume we can on chromecast.

Also, i heard we can do video calls and we can connect wireless headsets to chromecast.

I picked the HD one because for obvious reasons in my part our tv doesn't support 4k😂

Would you recommend a firestick over a Chromecast TV? Also can you download any VPN app on it as with any other app. I ask because on the Argos Q&A someones replied Chromecast doesn't support VPN.

Why does it say 4K or HDR

Anyone else get UI lag in the Chromecast... tried everything all the developer fixes, restarts, resets but it seems just really a bit laggy at times.

I just picked one up for £24.99 and thought I’d give it a try and to be honest I’m pretty impressed by it’s performance at that price’ i set all animations to 0.5 in dev options. I would say it’s probably about on par with the fire stick lite but this has half a gb of ram extra 1.5 the same as the regular fire stick 4k’ if I had to choose over a cheap chinese android box and this I’d most certainly go for this hands down especially at the price i got it for anyway. ✌️

I'm am going to assume that I own a 4K version of Chromecast with Google TV because mine is actually Faster 🤷, but how would I know the difference though I'm am Not an expert like you are 🤷

This chrome cast is my first I have just gotten the HD model I had the firestick 4K. From 2018 it went all black. But. I don’t notice a lot of difference I have a 4K Hisense smart tv. But limited apps but for what I need it will do for the time being. The one big. Bonus is the added tv controls I do like.
All in all it is a solid device

I have both, both on a HD TV (so I can not comment on 4K video quality).
I noticed a few strange differences. The HD version will connect to my router via wifi (5G band), while the 4K will not connect to 5G, only to 2.4G band, which is a big setback for speed.

if i buy chromecast 4k version will it work on hd tv?

Planning to buy just the 4th gen HD. but have learned from some reviewers in my country that the UI of HD is a bit different than the 4k. so now I settled for 4k. you have to activate vpn something for HD so the UI would be the same with 4k.

Infact HD version is more sluggish and laggy. I owned both versions, HD is slower with the same content & apps. I returned the HD and bought another 4k version even though my 2nd tv is only 1080p.

I've got the HD one I like it..the only snag is storage. Had to buy an Anker with Power support to Add external storage. Hate all the ADs pasted over the menus as you do but can put a custom UI on it.

If my TV "upscales" to 4k is there point paying the extra between them both? I got the HD when in sale and think it's fab & was waiting for the 4k to drop price somewhere (to move the HD upstairs) but now wondering if there's point paying the extra?

What about actually casting? I came here to see the differences between casting google chrome web pages from my mac.

what is point of 4k if u use it on a normal 1080p dumb tv :D but still it will ofc look a little better

buy the 4k version if you have a 4k tv..otherwise stick to the hd one..and you need a fast internet for 4k streaming

I have a 12 year old Panasonic tv not 4k I have a firestick and a older chromecast plugged in with a splitter, was thinking of getting the newer chromecast, should I just get the HD version?

If I have an OLED TV, is the Chromecast HD enough? Then the resolution will be as if I was watching it in 4K on a normal TV. Or what do you think?

I have a Chromecast with Google TV but I also experienced a Roku TV for the first time and now I don't like the Chromecast. I have settled on Roku TV for my household interface. Not necessarily a fan of the for you interface on the Chromecast.
