also yes, i think balance patches in single player games is a good thing and need to be. But i wish that always when some ability or mechanic is heavily reworked, there was left "go back to the legacy option of this mechanic" button, just in case some people would like previous option better.

the decision to balance or not balance in a singleplayer game (after release, obviously some initial balance during development is required to even have a viable game) can be rather tricky. I generally think it's a good idea if something is heavily undertuned to where it isn't even useful. for something "overpowered" it's a lot trickier. because going too far can leave the game feeling a bit flat and fails to reward creative players or particularly lucky players. and especially in a game that's particularly difficult and rng heavy, you want those rewards to exist. being able tip or even completely break the balance because you had sufficient game knowledge, luck, and determination is a big part of the reason to keep coming back to some games for tens or hundreds of hours. on the other hand, if it's too obvious and easy to pull off, it can cheapen the game or feel almost mandatory to use.

I agree with you about balance, one of my favorite games, brotato is completely ruined by its toxic fanbase. Whenever I bring up that certain things are unbalanced like the characters featured in the recent beta that included new characters that are going to be in the DLC coming out "soonTM" the entire community yelled at me and called me stupid. And at one point I got so pissed off that I yelled at some idiot who didn't know the game as well as I did, and they temp banned me which fair I deserved that. It's why I just stopped streaming it on my main channel, because I realized that balance changes were never ever going to happen because the community didn't want them because "it's a single player game, therefore it doesn't need buffs and debuffs." Honestly, that logic is so broken, it hurts my brain everytime I think about it.

I would much rather play vampire survivors because it's actually fair and balanced and hard for the right reasons. Because ya know despite being a "single player game" the devs put a lot of thought and care into making abilities and weapons, game breaking and downright insane while also not being completely OP. Even if the arcanas are a bit game breaking at times, I mean serande of healing is just OP with the whip.

Sorry for ranting about a game that has nothing to do with this one. But since we're talking about debuffs and buffs and our personal opinions on them, I really needed to get that off my chest for a long time now.

I like to think that after beating Rher, after everything Olivia and George went through together, he carried her on his back all the way over to the train. Maybe he collapsed a few times on the way.
