other movies like this one????
Ответитьlife sucks
ОтветитьI spent majority of my adolescence in group homes and psych wards just like this. Today I’m 30 years old and I saw Manic for the first time when I was 15(?). There’s not a week/month that goes by that I don’t think about this film.
It is so accurate are so raw and so real. I have yet to come across a film that depicts mental illness and trauma among adolescents in a way that is so relentlessly accurate.
💯👍
ОтветитьLove this film !
ОтветитьI watched this movie abt 12 years ago. It changed my life lol
ОтветитьHi! I’m the art director on this. I pranked the hell out of Joe during this shoot. The sketches of the Van Gogh are mine. This was shot at what now is part of Cal State, an old mental hospital. The same hospital Charlie Manson was in for his evaluation prior to his trial. Manson was in the 1920’s buildings, we shot most of Manic in the newer children’s separate parts. The cast was the best. Everyone of them excellent to work with.
ОтветитьSaw this movie for the first time when I was like 11-12. Now I’m 30 and rediscovering it has been such a cathartic experience for me. Some scenes are painful to watch...kinda like scratching old wounds that I haven’t thought about in years. But there’s also a bittersweet nostalgia to this film. It got me through a lot of shit when I was a kid. Makes the 2000’s feel like they were just yesterday.
ОтветитьI remember watching this when it came out and it had a huge impact on me. It’s a fucking great movie
ОтветитьWhy does Mike think he's black? I think he's a dope

ОтветитьI saw this film at a film festival in late 2000 and it was such a hard hitting film for me. I was in high school and knew kids like Lyle and the documentary style filmmaking utilized in this film made it feel all the more real. Great film that deserves more recognition.
