I definitely do the stop and smile lolll. I slow down my turns to half beats (especially if it’s a basic right turn - usually in bachata though). I also tell them when we’re in closed position, hey can you loosen your arm a bit and smile - they usually get the point and the rest of the dance is less rough. I’ve also said “whoa that’s a bit rough” and laugh jokingly and they also get it lol (I only do this if the entire dance is rough or if it’s not the first time I’ve danced with them). Just monitor your posture (I think these tips are great!) but worst case just be politely honest. If they’re hurting you, it’s not worth staying silent. Chances are they’ve done this with a lot of other dancers and are hurting them too but no one has said anything. And in my experience they tend to be dangerous on the floor anyway towards other couples. A lot of times they don’t realize either so Be polite! But it’s okay to say something 😅🤗

If a lead is bringing me in with momentum I'm unsure about, I put a gentle hand just above the back of his elbow to make sure we're stable and I can feel it better and he knows to watch me. It's also just good communication. I've done the hand check on chest too. It's also nice to trace the lead's arms or back when he's turning so he can feel you if he happens to get off balance and you can protect him too of a potential crash is about to happen from another couple. Anyone it's been like this with... Our communication has just gotten better and better and they get connection so well.

Oh. Would love a travel with momentum video.

I like those contents about social dancing ^^ good stuff to learn about, also from a leader perspective.

Could those following two be good advices ? (They might be implied by the 1st advice though)
- posture-wise : have one's weight more on the ball of the foot rather then the heel ? And rolling the steps more than stumping ? (If I exaggerate a bit)
- another I usually say to my follower partners (but it might be more for bachata) is not to throw themselves into a posture where they have no balance and entirely rely on the guy to hold them. As a leader, I'd rather do small but stable rather than gigantic... and end on the floor 😋

I only have one tip. Channel Cesar the dog whisperer. Tell them to bring it down. 🤣 I like to keep it real. In lots of cases if they are throwing you off balance, they are also running into other dancers. It’s good to let them know so they understand their overexcitement is actually the hulk and they usually can catch themselves and stop in by the next song. I like your offensive defense though. This is very useful! Thanks Rasa! Happy New Year!
