Hehehe, call me insane but I am buying this one in 2024. My partner need to upgrade her storage on her slow AM1 5350 HTPC... It feels like wasting money to go with SATA instead of an NVMe SSD nowadays. The only alternative is a USB3 enclosure for around 30-50EUR. But then I found a Core i5 3570 + motherboard + 16GB memory combo pack on the chinese ebay for 59EUR with an nvme slot. I honestly think this will be the best option, she will get a ~100% CPU performance boost pretty much. An upgrade from PCIe 2.0 4x to PCIe 3.0 16x (which will do wonders for her GTX1050Ti). I will run Linux on it, so my bet is that she will be happy with the performance for another 10 years, or until it breaks. :)

it's a very good chip. if you want a cheap budget build, you don't even need the K. you can just get the a non-k and an h77 or such. the 3570 goes for around 10 shipped, and matched with anything from an 1060 6gb on up, you can still game decently! ofc there's no m.2 nvme drive slots and no pcie 4.0 but it's still okay. I've actually been considering as asrock h77 mitx and a 3570 for a media/light gaming itx even in 2023. I had that exact combo with a gtx 960 way back in 2017 and was pretty happy with it. it's about equal with the pentium g5500.

Gamers doesn't necessarily play all games.

I find it pretty impressive that 10+ year old PCs can still run new games fairly decently. The 3570K is 11 years old and the GTX 580 is 13 years old! I remember a time where 10 years was a totally different world with computer hardware. Imagine in 2004 trying to run the latest games with a 1993 CPU and a 1991 GPU! HA! It wouldn't even being able to run Windows XP let alone any games! Around 2000 I had a high end system with a 1GHZ AMD processor and a GeForce 2 GTS 32MB for the GPU. It was a beast....for about 2 years. I had to upgrade sometime around late 2002 to early 2003. My main reason for wanting upgrade was the game Mafia. I loved that game but could only run it at lower settings. For my new PC I went with an Athlon XP 2800+ and for the GPU an ATI 9500. I remember the reason why I ended up choosing the ATI 9500. With some 9500s you could unlock extra pipelines and turn it into a 9700! It didn't work with all 9500s, some would display artifacts when the extra pipelines were unlocked. Luckily my unlocked with no artifacts and I had a 9700 for the price of a 9850! That was also the first PC I built myself. Those were good times.

I need your help desperetaly. I have similar system with this one in the video and I have problem running Windows 10 which will be a mandatory for Steam after January 1st. Everytime I installed Win 10 my stystem froze especially while multi tasking and then it was unable to reboot. I m trying to figure out what causes the problem and one of my suspicions was also this processor which isnt in the list of Intel's Win 10 compatible processors. However I see you made this benchmark of 3570K on Windows 10 and worked fine. Did you use AHCI or IDE control ??? Thanks in advance
PS: My system works like a charm in Windows 7

My PC is a beast from olden times now. i5 3570k and 1050 ti oc still do wonders for me. I recently discovered that they can play Detroit Become Human, played it smooth on custom-medium settings. I think they can pull some other games as well if I wasn't so pissed at low settings (Hogwarts Legacy).
I got the pair so I could play Dragon Age Inquisition back in 2016, now I'm planning to make my next pc 'upgrade' (basically all parts) a graduation gift for myself. I'll build it so Starfield can run on high, hopefully the new components hold like those two

I bought this CPU in 2012, I got rid of in in 2017 when I was fed up with it being absolutely demolished by BF1. couldn't hold a consistent 60fps in 64 player matches. The frame drops are pretty severe because of the 4 cores and no HT.

Just bought 6800Xt for it to see how will it do in assetto corsa maxed out on VR, wold love some NVME though.... if it holds grate if not ill guess ill just get some new CPU.

Love this video, my first CPU was a 3570K back in 2013 when I got into PC gaming. It did more than I could have ever wished for, I have since upgraded and passed the 3570K
onto a friend who has also just recently upgraded. He will be passing the processor/ram/motherboard combo down for the second time where I'm sure it will continue to be a beast.

Great memories of building my first computer and having it be everything I could have ever wished for and more, I feel old, I miss those days.

Remember, the 50% extra cost on the 3770k never got you anywhere near 50% more performance.

I ran a 3570k at 4.2 with 16GB of 2200mhz cl10 ram in my main system up untill 2019 (I even delided it and applied liquid metal to it), and my advice would be to upgrade to zen 3 (Something like a 5600/5700, or a 5800x3d if you can get it for cheap). Investing on an heavily outdated platforms has never saved me money in the long term.

I've upgraded my x79 (chinese motherboard, so in my case h77) to an E5 2697 V2 and it's ripping through games with ease. When i built my first modern gaming system at the time i went for an i5 3470 because i couldn't afford the 3570k but this was a blast from the past to see how well it still holds up!
