I’m especially surprised nobody took bad games with great graphics such as FF XIII-3 and used them for machinimae , those types of games’d be perfect for the genre

ARMA and SIMS machinimas still get made. Still, the scene is largely dead.

I've come across Minecraft machinimas.

And when everyone thought the genre died out: The Omniverse Machinima app has come from nvidia.

I'd love to see Machinimas become more of a thing again but also to see it evolve into something more original. what I mean is instead of using someone else's game [and having to worry about copyright], rather making your own game that would work better with machinima. There's not much you can do when using someone else's game, but what would it look like if you made your game? At the moment, that's what I'm trying to do so that I can have control of facial expression and body language of the character in real time

Well, with how lazy society has become these days, wouldn't you just say it's far easier to livestream yourself playing video games unedited for TWITCH rather than going thru the long painstaking process of editing a video together from scratch using editing programs like Adobe Premeir/After Effects and/or Sony Vegas? It takes true skill to make fully edited videos with special effects and glits and glamour, which can take quite some time to piece together vs livestream which, as we know, an artist can record a ton and upload rather quick and on the demanding flash!!!!!

And the only machinima still around that I like is Spriggs.

The only machinima I still like are Arby and The Chief and “The Scum of Xbox Live”. The genre really just hasn’t matured.

I know we are waaaay late to the party, but thanks for talking about machinima. We are a new upcoming channel who decided to do Machinima. Realizing we had chosen a very difficult field to come into. Promoting it has been a nightmare. Way may need to think of something else. Would you happen to have any advice?

The company Machinima destroyed the genre by hijacking it and whoring it out until interest in it was thoroughly diminished.

I used to be a machinima director i created the mythbusters series, l4d, red dead redemption and more, me and defend the house was in competition for years. They screwed us with the nobi policy, and then removed all our old shows. Glad they are burning to the ground. F em

i made some of the original machinima in 2008. it all died in around 2011 or so. now when you search for it, you just get the shitty company. and their channel is all ads now. there is no more machinima.

my best series was oblivion cops. the original uploads had over 50k views each. not bad for 2008.

Although I agree machinimas are dying there's still a few machinimas coming out today that are great quality the first one to come to mind for me is scp first contact that uses gta to make a movie
