Hello DP. I am a fresh Oxygen player and I find your guides and playthrough very helpful for my first moves. I have one question regarding this setup. If you don't connect hydroponic farms then we have a close circuit. But if we connect the farms, some portion of polluted water is being used for the plants. So we lose water this way, is it not? So having a leakage we have to constantly resupply water. Am I missing something? Thank you for your beautiful content

Sink and showers are both water equivalent but toilets produce 1.7Kg per use more than input so a single tile of Thimble reed can goble up 94 toilet uses per cycle or to put in other terms it would take 94 dupes peeing to even need a second thimble reed tile. They also produce heat but it is negated largely by the fixed temperature output of dupe pee/poo @37°, however that is only the 1.7kg, the rest will heat up to ambiant temperature

But the main issue of this setup is going to be overheating, after some cycles the thimble will stiffle because of the heat from the Water sieve. Not acounting for the material temperature input (sand)

very cool idea for remote toilets i like to place around to reduce run times and wet accidents, haha

The water sieve requires 5 kg/s of polluted water and releases 5 kg/s of water. How there will be excess for the Tumble Reed? And if the tumble reed keeps getting some water, wouldn't the system shutoff eventually?
Also the water sieve will need cleaning right? Polluted dirt. I'm just thinking how I implement that to my base.

excellent design. one question: when built, both the storage and the sieve have a 'pipe blocked' alert. is this because it is a closed system, or did i build it incorrectly?

Hello, I need some help. i built this system like this, but my plants are not watered. I've watched it multiple cycles now.

thanks, this is incredibly simple and effective! I don't think the special piping style is necessary because not all dupes use the toilets and showers at exactly the same time so there's a chance for the water to flow in.

So what happens when the water that still has germs is used to clean dupes?

this is only good for toilets because the water sieve doesn't remove the germs,( whatever germs are in the polluted water will still pass into the output of the clean water) so using them for sinks and showers makes it kind of counter productive for sanitization purposes

what if you do not have any thimble seeds, but want to make this design anyway? would the water still go to the farms if nothing is being farmed in those tiles?

What about the germs? You're just constantly cycling germy water through this system. The sieve filters polluted water into usable water, but all the germs remain.

wait, the way you did it, the water that comes from the baths/toilets/sinks is splitted between the plant tiles and water sieve system, so what if not enough water goes to refill the baths/toilets/sinks? like bcz there's some going to the plants.

is this really estable in the long term?

I know this is an older video but I tried it today. Had some issues with the loop seems to be a reversed bridge...but when I incorporated the Thimble Reed plants...they won't grow giving me a Growth Halted Irrigation (stored) message. I've tried rerouting the pipes and then running fresh water (after emptying the pipes) but nothings working.
