Please Sir, are there any general guidelines in composing the first bars of a melody; especially a chorale anthem?

I hope it's not a dumb question, but is the melody in the first bar the motif? Greetings and thank you for your lessons :)

Very educational video. You're a knowledgeable man in music theory indeed. This video encouraged me how to know how amazing my newest compositions are turning out currently. Explaining the theory behind each piece really awakens a deep spiritual understanding of this mathematical language. Bless you for this Sir. Great job explaining this.

I'm a beginner level piano player (5 months in) and feel amazed by how easy to understand you're able to present such a complex topic
You make creating music seem achievable even for someone who just recently started playing an instrument and learning about music theory
Kudos for that! 💛

Is it possible to write a melody using one or two of the extension notes of the chord on the strong beats? Say, using an F# note on a Gmajor7 chord. Or, an A or E? Would they need to be in a higher pitch to behave as extensions which harmonize with the the chord tones rather than lower notes behaving as inessential notes? Or, when I write or see any extended chord, should I always simply boil it down to it’s basic triad to write a melody and work with it such as how you’ve shown us? Thanks!

About rhythmic character, Bach has quite a few pieces that are written mostly in 16th notes, but they are felt in different groupings throughout the piece, making you feel a rhythm that isn't written
