When I try to use the displace filter , with the displacement map image it just won't allow me. It says "displacement map must be 8 bits/pixel" . Any idea of what I could do?

for me it always exceedes 2gb the displacement file and i can only safe it as psb which i can not use :/

This is golden, I hope they make krita a nice displacement tool/filter to port this workflow to open source ... U can do it in gimp already I think but.. anyway.. thanks for the amazing tip, it looks very realistic. 😁
