I used shrooms multiple times. It was over decade ago and my life was overall mess. It was turning point for me, because they showed me capabilities of my brain. They showed me how little I am in scale of universe. They humbled me and showed me what real fear can be and how to let it go. They showed me how irrelevant my daily life was and that I needed to choose to either use my potential to achieve something or to stay completely irrelevant. When I tried both shrooms and lsd my sense of self identity wasn’t turned off, but actually heightened. Both times I took the drug after about a third of the trip when I was just having fun I entered a state of mind where I was deeply self reflective, self ‘critical’ (in my normal positive way) and to put the feeling into terms very meta. I was looking for a greater meaning in literally everything, and trying to tie it all into a ‘lesson’ basically, and both times I can’t even say it was a bad lesson. I’m genuinely curious why I experienced these drugs differently than I was supposed to. The first time I smoked beforehand and the second time I didn’t and yet the same exact situation still occurred, just with less hallucinations. It was even the opposite at the start of the trip when I was extremely aware of social interactions and was trying to literally engineer the situation to make it less stressful.

As someone who smokes weed regularly and has taken shrooms and lsd on multiple occasions, drugs are not the answer to your problems, and pretending like they are will only make them worse. Not to say that using them is always bad but using them as a crutch is. The only true healing has to come from inside.

I consider myself "normal", but I have issues. Destructive stories that my mind tells, as I believe one of the folks above said. Nicotine, caffeine, food, and a handful other unhealthy relationships with bad cost/benefit analyses are proving to be impossible for me to escape on my own. As ridiculous and cliche as it sounds, I need a reset. If I had the second chance that psychedelics can apparently grant, I'd try not to squander it the way I did on my first go round. Unfortunately before Joe Sixpack can benefit from psychedelics, I'll likely be in my eighties.

My non expert non scientific theory is all drugs are some form of poison. Each poison does different things to our bodies and our bodies “react” with defenses to expel that poison from our body. That goes for pharmaceuticals too. Our bodies get tricked by the poison to produce certain chemical to fight.

Before I started micro-dosing I drank daily for many years by the third day of micro-dosing I did not have a drink or a desire which is the first time I can recall for a long time it was like whatever was causing me to drink every day was gone and I now see things differently now.
