Actually, I was already asleep. But why did I suddenly wake up! Then I turned on the room lights, it turned out I forgot to close the window, so lots of mosquitoes came. Have a good night's sleep again

My dad (long gone now lol) lived on a boat so whenever I slept over there as a kid this was often what it sounded like (as well as the sounds of rolled up sails and lines hitting the mast in the wind, especially since it was a Marina with a bunch of other people) so it's been very comforting and I've been listening to it (almost) every night for a couple months now :]

Just listened to this on the last night of our rocky cruise and I must say, rocking on the ship with this is quite the experience

Great concept. Love the rain beating the deck as I am trying to sleep below. The waves battering the hull, the creaking of the ship as we are headed for the trades on the outside,
and the downhill run to Papeete Bay….then, then off to Tortuga. ⛵️

Some nights you can see a ghost ship. And if you listen carefully, you can see a single ghost. And its always singing "Yo ho hoo hoo. Yo hoo hoo hooooo"☠️

On a serious note.
Used to sleep in my car a lot when I was younger. So I ended up parking up near the docks where the boats were, or at my work at the airport. Couldn't fall asleep in a quiet room anymore. Needed something, like the rain or waves or even a Airbus distantly taxiing in.
You'll be surprised how calming it can be. Traffic far off, the wind gently coming through with the cold night air, gentle chirps of birds and crickets,the plane taxiing in with just a whisper. You'll wake maybe, startled a bit by a car door or the plane itself. But comfort overcomes you, you just woke up...everything is okay, just a plane coming in to start the day.
If it was by the docks it was the wind, crickets, chirps, the water lapping against the boat hulls, the wind jimmying the ropes and sails, the boats gently pulling on their moors, some of them creaking, you can hear in the distance wind and waves rushing towards land, seagulls calling when the sun rises, the rush of morning traffic just beginning.

I miss it, it's too romanticized these days. It was hell sometimes. The heat, the cold, the uncomfortableness, the openness of the world, the interruptions while sleeping, the always on edge feeling when you hide. You won't get a real good night's sleep anyways.
But heaven? The feeling its just you and your trusty steed, your metal coffin. The ability to go anywhere, truly free without much confines. It forces you out of a safe space you didn't know you had. Makes you itch for it. I call it the Call Of The Road, felt it for so long. It infects you like a disease though.
Once you live on the street, in your car. You base your life around that lack of security. A insecurity you'll never get rid of. Every car you buy it's "what if I go homeless and need to sleep in here?" Its worrying about gas, looking at campers, living bare minimum with no furniture, not having much ties to things. Even when you are so financially secure and safe. I never realized it till my boyfriend pulled me aside, hugged me and told me I wasn't living in my car and that I can trust living in a apartment.
Though it's still there, a constant nag, itch for freedom, you'll never get much like it. Silence will drive you nuts, the peace makes you nervous. One day you are in, living a good life, next in your car trying to heat up noodles with a kettle and a inverter, counting the miles that go down on the dash as you blast the AC or Heat before bed.

I listen to this while I work. It helps me concentrate a lot. I absolutely love these sounds. I am a boat and ocean lover to the core. If I'm not on the ocean in a boat, I can at least surround myself with its glorious sounds.

I keep waiting for a "Yo-hoho" or a gentle "Yaaarrr" to show its a pirate ship and not just some old ship.

But who knows how it sounds on a pirate ship? I mean there are people,they do all kind of things, and the other things too xD
