The Head of Orthodoxy is the Ecumenical Patriarche of constantinople. The Eastern Orthodox Church is a communion of church, and the autocephalous ecclesiology of the Church allows for an incredible preservation of tradition and doctrine. Just because the heads of our churches hold no power over the other Bishops doesn't mean that the church has no authority or centralised authority.
ОтветитьWell I say that the Queen of Heaven is a Jew
ОтветитьExactly is why lot of problem with the Orthodoxy, because there are pridefull and phyletic, wish is an heresy
ОтветитьCatholic are a lots of rites ans nationality, because it was founded at the demand of jesus Christ, humanity in christ need to be United, not shiasmatic
ОтветитьI after I graduated from The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, I became Catholic. Started God’s Creatures Ministry and Chaired Catholic Concern for Animals in the USA. Wish the leaders would teach by example God’s compassion for His creatures. We should move away from eating animals land their milk and eggs.
ОтветитьWhat about the letters to the 7 churches in revelation / apocalypse with their own lampstands and geographic apellations ........
He contradicts himself...... Saying immediately that a Polish, German and south American pope impresses him..... It's a kind of circular reasoning.........
Thank God for orthodoxy!!!! Personally having barely survived a calvinist wolf and then a pentecostal "prophet" (profit)..... Having no proper teaching from a young age.
I go to a Greek Orthodox church and Im cuban… its not what you think it is
Ответить😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂☦️
ОтветитьThis is a highly incoherent argument and proves nothing.
Ответитьaha...so what about Roman catholic, Eastern Rite for example Greek Catholic WHO DO NOT EVEN HAVE THE SAME CREED MIND YOU, the hindu rite etc LOL
ОтветитьImagine when he discovers that that's how the Orthodox functioned since the first centuries, with different local churches, rites and traditions.
Orthodoxy is organical, it's a faith that organically integrate and transforms peoples and societies, still recognizing their identity and maintaining their autonomy.
Is he ignorant or deceptive?
ОтветитьThat's how they all were before the schism
ОтветитьWhat a sheltered and selfish view of the rest of the church
ОтветитьBro cites the only couple popes that weren’t it Italian.
ОтветитьI’m heading in the direction of the Catholic Church, but he says this as if this isn’t the same in Catholicism. And I don’t think he really is being that fair to Orthodoxy here and consistent.
ОтветитьHe is right. He sees that their are so many different orthodox churchs. The antichrist is in the saint john orthodox church +++
Ответить👍
ОтветитьSo basically, Scott Hahn doesn't know why they are not wanting to be under a position that went to kill those who didnt follow their rules and following Christ. Nice! Braco Scott.
ОтветитьHe was a Presbyterian Pastor, the son-in-law of Dr. Jerry Kirk. What happened?
Ответить217 🇮🇹 Popes, mamma mia 🤌
ОтветитьThis is such a terrible take. The head of the church is Christ. It doesn’t need the papist idea of a pope. Also, this ignores completely the fact that the Catholic Church’s Uniates.
ОтветитьPeople saying he doesn’t understand Orthodoxy, as if it’d change his views from Catholicism to Orthodox. He clearly stated the Catholic Church having a pope who can be and is regularly from a different nation is what most resonates to him and humbly imo, the best way of expressing Christ paved a way for US ALL. Not saying anything bad against Orthodox neither, but compare what he says and admires about Catholicism and what you all believe Orthodoxy to TRULY be, do you think he’d change his mind based on that? I dont think so
ОтветитьNot even close to reality.
ОтветитьOnly an American, which have no culture bonds, would be turned off and misunderstand people having and wanting to continue the culture of their forefathers. It doesn't change the message of the church
ОтветитьSo what if ethnic groups in different nations are the home of these national denominations.
I’m not EO but this is a bad case against EO.
There were as many Lutheran bodies in the USA until the second generation immigrants lost their ancestral tongues, and merged in about 1960 into the LCA.
I assume that this guy likes the Latin Mass and hates the vernacular ones. Ignoring that the Latin Mass was in the vernacular of the West.
Very misleading but what else can the Orthodox expect
ОтветитьAny disagreements in the church right now can be directly led to your jesuits and the protestant freemasons god knows the truth
The eo reconizes no other church and no other baptism
Pretty terrible understanding of Orthodox ecclesiology. They’re all still in communion with one another. How is it better to have one man who has the power to depose bishops anywhere in the world as he wishes?
ОтветитьWithout the authority of the Universal Church, you lose the authority of society, family and ultimately, with God.
ОтветитьSo by that logic, the Catholic Church is also autocephalous because the ROMAN Catholic Church has had a national identity, that being Rome, the Papal States, and as of today, Vatican City. By that argument Catholics have a denominationalist tendency towards Rome and the Italian peninsula in general considering most popes were Italians
ОтветитьOoo I've always described Orthodox as "protoprotestant" but "denomenationalism" is perfect.
ОтветитьThis seemed more like a preference for politics
ОтветитьThe main differences between Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholicism. the main things which keep our religions separate are:
Papal Supremacy, Papal Infallibility, The Filioque, Absolute Divine Simplicity, Created Grace Doctrine, natural theology, scholasticism, Original sin, sacred heart doctrine, Immaculate conception, Purgatory, Merits/Indulgences, evolution of Dogma, imaginative prayer, "beatific vision" etc
Then the Forced Celibacy of Priests, The use of Unleavened Bread in the Eucharist, The Adoption and change of the Christian calendar, The use of Renaissance statues, Pews, Child Communion, improper non immersion baptism, Cardinals, and differences in liturgical practices (Alter tables, Iconostasis, priest positioning etc)
all of those things, we say the Western Church adopted and innovated and became heretical when they adopted these things.
And we say that in the early church NONE of these things existed, there is no evidence of these things.
No examples of Papal Infallibility, No examples of merits/indulgences, and no examples of unleavened wafer bread, and such.
In fact in the west, In Rome. It looked a lot similar to how we Orthodox exist today. Our priests can get married, we use Icons and not statues, we use the old calendar etc
Orthodoxy Vs Roman Catholicism:
Energy Essence Distinction vs Absolute Divine Simplicity
Ancestral Sin vs Original Sin
Non Filioque Trinity vs Filioque Trinity
Patriarchy vs Papacy
Revealed Theology vs Natural Theology
Hesychasm Vs Scholasticism
Theosis vs Sanctification
Married Priest vs Celibate Priests
Infant Communion Vs Non Infant Communion
Iconography vs Statues
Full Immersion Baptism vs Sprinkle Baptism
One Baptism vs Confirmation Baptism
Leavened Communion Bread vs Unleavened Communion bread
Julian Calendar vs Pope Gregory's Calendar
We are not the same Religion, we do not have the same faith, and anyone who looks into either religions genuinely will see how different we are.
End the schism. In Jesus name.
ОтветитьAnd they all teach an IDENTICAL Liturgy and all are welcomed into the others.
ОтветитьIt’s incredible how people who are completely uneducated on a topic go on a podcast and confidently lie to everyone who sees it. Before I joined the Orthodox Church, I also inquired at a couple of Catholic Churches. You know what I found? When you reach out to an Orthodox Church to approach them about learning the church’s teachings, you are met with a priest, and you will meet with that priest monthly during your journey. When you reach out to a Catholic Church, you are met with a mass that is incredibly Protestant. The churches in my area have rock bands, don’t use hymns, and every mass I went to was a pitch for how we needed to give the church money immediately. I understand the catholics have different rites, but they are not prevalent enough in comparison to the Protestant mass you see at 98% of Catholic Churches. The most glaring issue is when you reach out to a Catholic Church, you meet with someone who I can only describe as an HOA president. All of the churches who I spoke with had grumpy old women who knew less about their own faith than I did. The feeling of those meetings with the Catholics feels very much like you are trying to get into some grumpy old book club, not a church. On paper orthodoxy and Catholicism are similar faiths, but in practice the differences could not be more glaring. If you want a church with traditional values, I suggest growing up, growing a pair of balls, and realizing that if there is a Greek population at your church, or a Russian population, and that makes you uncomfy, then you NEED to expose yourself to different cultures, I mean; if you can’t even sit in a church with someone who is different than you, then YOU “Dr.” are the one with the problem. The church is fine.
ОтветитьGreat point! Right on! All self headed!
ОтветитьHow many Roman churches do their Mass in Italian, Tagalog or Spanish? The idea that RC's don't have "ethnic" divisions is ludicrous.
ОтветитьSo the Roman one gets so big they forget their nationalism-ism
ОтветитьNo, no. Please. The Eastern Orthodox Church has autocephalous parts due to a language and not nationalist base. It means a lot to us that people understand the Liturgy. Therefore St. Kirillos and St. Methodius invented the Slavic Alphabet so that the Slavs understand the Gospel etc. We are all in communion and the highest post is the Ecumenical Synod, in cases needed. The Head of the Church is Jesus Christ.
ОтветитьI think his comments are slightly disingenuous. Didn’t the same thing happen in the US with some Catholic churches being predominantly Italian in one area, and another nationality in another area 🤨
ОтветитьTrue. Very true.
We are a church, a body, we are 1
Hi Matt, it would be awesome if you could do a discussion on “Autocephaly vs Sui Iuris”.
ОтветитьTo be fair, for a long time the pope was always Italian
ОтветитьThe orthodox haven’t done a very good job at being a universal church. They are more like the holier than thou types, who preach forgiveness but don’t reach out to others and practice what they preach. They aren’t even United to each order. There is still a schism and of the 41 years I’ve been alive there is always a schism every time I hear about them. Praying they heal and do better.
ОтветитьThat’s weird that autocephalous churches existed in the 3-400’s 🤔
ОтветитьI’m Catholic agree still love and respect for my orthodox brothers
Ответитьdoes he know there still the same it only means it was associated at the time with thenlocal language? his arguments go against matthew 23:8-12, mark 10:42-45, luke 22:25-7, john 13:13-15, 1 Peter5: 1-3, Acts 10:25-26, galatians 2:11-14
