I love your videos. I particularly like this one . . . if I only had a Mac, eh? Another thing I like is all the comments! When taken collectively, the comments show a lot of intelligence by those who watch your intelligent video and then comment on it.
I still like using a MIDI keyboard to input material. It DOES get a little complicated when you have to go back and forth between a MIDI keyboard and a QWERTY keyboard.

ОтветитьGreat introduction to what it's like to use the tool. Your knowledge of music theory and composition shines - demonstrating that the tool can be mastered enough not to get in the way.
Ответитьthis video is 7 years old at the time I'm watching this, I hope my man's got a new keyboard
ОтветитьJeez that’s a filthy keyboard
ОтветитьThis is actually really impressive!
ОтветитьHello from 2022. Looking for the best music composition/creation software similar to this one. This composition reminds me of an old progrock group called Happy the Man. Good stuff.
ОтветитьLove the keyboard shortcuts...
I use some but not near as many as you do Adam.
what software are you using and where can i get it
ОтветитьPlease do more of these. It's so nice to learn from people who are actually good at using Sibelius. A lot of tutorials on the web are so bad
ОтветитьI heard Sibelius has a mobile app, how is it? I use Finale but I'm thinking about switch for the sake of writing away from home.
ОтветитьCool I love it
Ответитьgnarly keyboard bruv
Ответитьhow do you get out of note inout and select a bar to repeat it? you said "shift and select it" but how do you select other than shift?
Ответитьthank you for even considering limitations of 4-mallet technique. Some things are much harder than they seem on mallet keyboard instruments (Porgy and Bess, Bach's Prelude to Cello Suites)
ОтветитьWhat makes Sibelius stand out from others?
I don’t really call myself a composer since I don’t produce to have a live orchestra ever play... that would be the DREAM!
BUT I do dabble with some instruments and synths as a producer but I always had my roots in orchestrations.
I would use Logic Pro 10 as they have a notation mode.. that looks a lot like this but the instruments sound better assuming because Logic Pro has legit samples.
My question is, when I compose in notation with Logic Pro it’s so easy to press record and HAVE your song become a true track. You can even change out the MIDI if you have better libraries like kontact. With Sibelius, is there a way you can flash your writings to become a true piece in a DAW or program? Or is this 600$ program basically writing and and you’re stuck with the VST sounding samples? I love notation. I mean this beats pen and paper anyday to legit hear the sounds live. I just want to know what makes these Notation programs POP when DAWS such as Logic Pro have one already in them with a far superior sound library.
Awesome video nonetheless!! Love this type of breakdown and challenge. I immediately liked and subscribed brother :) very cool.
Badass😎
ОтветитьLove this video. Thanks for sharing your sibelius workflow!
ОтветитьThank you!
Ответить10 minutes of production and what we have as a result?.... Steve Reich, LOL . Adam, now seriously, this is a fabulous motive. Your capacity to audiate is enviable
ОтветитьSo not only did you take coffee over your Real Book...
ОтветитьWe want more of this!
ОтветитьIn SIBELIUS the stage lines go right through the GUITAR TAB NUMBERS, anyone know how to break the lines so there is space around the tab ?!
ОтветитьGreat idea! Thank you!
ОтветитьPlaying double stops on cello doesn't work that way
ОтветитьHey Adam! This might be a deep like, but I just followed along with this while I was using Noteflight for the first time and doing my first composition ten years out from my only piano class. It was a real treat that helped me to start to see what was on the table, creatively speaking and just to make something. Really awesome that you made this video. Thanks!
Ответитьdamn, that time pressure really works for him xD
ОтветитьWho's checking out the music 🎶 and not the keyboard 🎹
ОтветитьWould make a great preinstalled ringtone :)
ОтветитьVery effective demonstration. Thank you.
ОтветитьI use F7-F12 to change the keypad menu.
btw lovely rhythm and harmony
Your showing us nifty shortcuts and take 'new file' from the menu? Yeah...... 😉
ОтветитьI laughed, cried and nodded while thinking how this is an obvious advertisement for Dorico. While I’d love to try it the thought of going through the pain of learning what would amount to my 4th notation program is also very painful. I may just have to deal with the inadequacies of Sibelius and Finale. I’ve actually recently made an effort to return to Finale and so far so good once I got started.
ОтветитьSibelius crashed
ОтветитьLet’s gooooo!!!!! First.
Ответить"actually i dont like that rolly bit even though i made a big fuss out of it" is a MOOD we can all relate to
Ответитьcan u do this with a midi keyboard as well?
Ответитьi have a problem, u say + and - can change the menu on the sibelius keypad, well on your keyboard it looks like they are two separate keys on the numpad so it works. I'm looking online for one and most have them combined into 1 key so that's annoying.
ОтветитьCan this software change tempos on the sheet (Note pad)?
ОтветитьDo more of this
ОтветитьAdam Neely is typing.....
ОтветитьSorry guys, I lost the game. Also, does anyone else get a Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time feel from the music? Does everything played from Sibellius sound videogamy?
Ответитьplease do another one of these
ОтветитьDid he just say four mallets are awkward?
And the rolley thingy, arpeggios. I’m sure he knows this now, but damn that was weird to hear him say that
This sounds very Zelda to me
