The MOST COMMON Cause of Hair Shedding (Dermatologist)

hi doctor, just wanted to ask, how long is the period of shedding supposed to be? it's been almost a year since i noticed my hair density become less, but only recently my hair started falling out in clumps when running my hands through it, combing, or in the shower. i checked with a dermat who diagnosed it as telogen effluvium, but is it supposed to go this long? he took a look at my scalp, and diagnosed me with it. as far as i know, i don't have any issues with my thyroid either from a recent test

My hair is thinking but not balding.

Can high level of stress cause this? I'm just 21 and all of my hairs srated falling in November. I stayed home didn't go to college entire December. now in jan I can see my hairs are in better condition but not really like they were before. I'm really worries. What should I do to treat them? The hairs had white bulb at the end!

I’m 32 Latino I’ve showed no signs of hair loss all my life until I started accutane my last dose was October 3rd and ever since I’ve noticed excessive shedding and they are thick hairs falling with the bulb at the end of the hair strand. During the treatment I pulled my hair in the shower and wouldn’t pull nothing out just after the treatment is when it started. I keep my hair about 3 inches on top and skin fade for the sides.

I had major surgery got clots after surgery took meds for clots then took covid months later i lost at least 60% of my hair two years on my hair is recovering slowly but recovering sending hugs and healing to everyone experiencing this awful thing

Finally, I managed my white flakes on the scalp and hairfall.
Step 1: Massage hair oil and leave it overnight or at least an hour for it to work.
Step 2: Wash it off with shampoo.
Next, Put on conditioner of your choice to the roots of your hair.
I used littleeextra cococonion anti hair fall kit for these steps as it's mild and organic, and is known gud for hair fall control.
If you have dandruff, apply lemon juice on your scalp at least once a week prior to shampooing and rinse it out about an hour later.

I had covid over a year ago and still shedding. My doctor checked my thyroid along with other tests and it's all normal. I don't understand, could it be the stress after having covid and a blood clot from covid. I no longer have the blood clot but I do have the nodule in my left lung, yes, from covid.

I have a bald spot near the crown of my head, the doctor said it is Alopecia and that it should grow back in several months. But how do you know if the Alopecia is just mild and isn't going to spread all over your scalp and cause further baldness? That's the thing I'm worried about. I don't find any more hair than usual falling out in the shower and I don't find it on my pillow either, so if it was to be severe, would it shed faster?

I used Dermaroller 2 months ago but I used 2.5 millimeter by mistake , in addition of being depressed too at the time and now I am shedding hair like crazy all over my head 😢 do you think I damaged my follicles or do I have a Telogen case ?

Exactly so thick putting in a ponytail was a struggle. Also remember the banana combs. They wouldn't stay in my hair.

but I have telogen effluvium for almost 5 years now and it still hasn't stopped. I mean, it has become a bit less, but still waaaaay too much. I want it to stop. Also doctors in the Netherlands aren't that good, even when I ask them to check my thyroid and gut etc... they don't really want to help. Therefore, I can not get into the root cause of this excessive hair shedding :( !! My hair used to be super thick, but it became sooooo thin in the last 5 years. Even my mother is in shock, and you could see a bit through my scalp at the front and my edges :(

I came across to your video and really wanted to share me journey.. I was 16 when I had some severe health issues and first time in my life I experienced major hair loss at that point I lost all mt hair almost all the volume. At that time it was because of nutritional deficiency .. I started working on my hair and started using castor oil and after 3 years my hair has recovered. But then after 2 and half years my hair has again falling out like crazy and they continue to fall I should say hair loss.. After 1.5 year of my continue hair loss I diagnosed with PCOS now I'm on contraptive pills but my hair has crazingly falling I saw hairs everywhere.. In that time I'm using rosemerry oil which helped me to regrow which is a good sign but my hair is continously falling from last 2.5 years 🙃 i'm still very anxitic about it! But when I listen to this video I feel a bit relived that they will grow back! But that feeling of losing hair is very bad!

I had gastritis, due to taking too much ibuprofen for costachondritis. I had no idea it had the effect on the stomach which it does, an oversight on my part. Anyway, I have now got such thin hair and I hate it, being male, it’s very visible and happened so quickly. I went to an of couple dermatologists they gave me minodoxil only after seeing my scalp. I used that but once I stopped shedding started again. I cannot use medication all my life. I have been using homemade stuff to help my hair but I can't find anything of much help. I had a lot of hair growing up. But in 2012 I got pcos and I went to a gynac two years after . I had all the medicine in the world for pcos and at last in 2017 , i did last medication which helped my periods but my long , thick hairr never came back. I remember clips i wore would break in my thick hair but i never got that back 😭😭😭 . Dermos here don't help the way they should. I hope i get my hair back 😭😭😭😭

Hey I'm a 15 year old and I don't know whats going on with my hair, as you mentioned in the video that The condition "Telogen Effluvium" may be the condition in mine as well but I have few questions, First of all I used to have massive think long hair and people used to compliment my hair a lot and 6 months ago, I cut my hair to medium length and after a week or two I started noticing my hair was shedding in clumps and clumps. And after a few months my hairline was receding and my individual hair strands were getting thinner and thinner and I was in a major stress after that, still haven't recovered. So its been 6 months since this incident and with no hope I'm still wondering is this telogen effluvium? because the growing hairs or should I call baby hairs that are growing on my scalp are also seen gradually thinner and when I'm brushing my hair the baby hairs are also coming out and are noticeably very thin, is this supposed to happen?

I have been shedding hair chronically for the last 2.5 years! I recently got an iron infusion done (about almost 2 months ago) to increase my iron levels that were quite low, yet I am still shedding. I have been wanting to know how long after an iron infusion will I see a reduction and hopefully a halt to my hair fall? (Providing it was due to very low iron levels I am hoping).
