The 2015 AWP nerf and its controversial legacy in CS:GO

They literally ruined cs, cuz of 1 guy who learned how to play awp like it should be played.. Logic?

Thing is...
Imagine it wouldnt have been changed...
by now every game would be rifles until one team has the economy and then have teams with 3 or 4 awps. thats an absolute dead end for the other team unless they save 3 rounds to get a proper awp setup to hold against that. we would have impressively one-sided matches and the economy would be extremely unbalanced all the time.
Even though it hurted that one or two players who really excelled at this exciting playstyle... in the long run it most likely was the right decision.

Till this day I am waiting for them to bring the old awp back, genuinely the worst update in cs history…

it makes sense. a snipe rifle shouldn't be able to run up on an assault rifle and out assault them.

I think he's on inverted because you can see the AWP in lefty mode at the beginning of the video.

That update wasnt to nerf KennyS , it was just to balance the peekers advantage online. When u get from 50ms to even 200ms peekers advantage and u play aggresive with awp , it was like the enemy doesnt even have the change to shoot you , even if you miss your shoot.
Valve actually did a pretty good job , i am surprised you dont undestand that this was messure againt peekers advantage for online gaming.
Lan vs Online are really different at the top level of csgo .

So instead of making players adapt to a gun that has been the same since 1.6 and is also very expensive they nerf it. Not to mention that nobody at that time complained about it and everyone hated the update because they changed such an iconic weapon. Rip T-side awping, never been the same since everyone just camps now.

I'm pretty sure what Kenny is saying is probably true. They did this 100% just because of him and JW. It was so fun though, why did they do this? So many highlights and fun plays. The gun was balanced because it was/is expensive. An awper challenging another awper was so fun. I remember when a lot of people used to challenge t-spawn on dust 2 and stuff. Honestly I 100% understand Kenny's frustration. It took away a lot of fun. Playing so aggressive was really something special that you now can only experience a bit if you use a Scout but the risk of dying is too high. I mean, I'm still fine you can still play like this you just have to scope later but it felt so awkward the first months.

They had to nerf it. The awp isnt intented to be used as an allarounder weapon. Its to hold angles and be played on distance. Not to peak every angle on any range and kill everybody no matter what.

It was a good change, one of few good ones by Valve. Never understood the outrage. You still have sick AWP fraggers, you just can't consitantly shotgun with it..

Idiots, you think it was fun to face an awp time and time again with that movement speed, well then you just never played enough cs. The AWP is much closer to how it should be now.

They nerfed awp once again, just a little

They could do their own game a favor and remove the awp so the game is skill based. Or they could leave it in, not fix cheats, netcode, or RNG in spray patterns and let the game suffer under these 4 problems until the only people playing are autistic mouth breathers who have no conception of what skill is. You've been letting the game choke like this for 6 years and it's almost dead. Hopefully it'll completely die out forever and E-sports can reinvent CS in 6 years and without any autistic morons gargling their own spit moaning "but it's been ruining it for 20 years you CAN'T get rid of it!"

It was true it was becoz of KennyS , he was so damn good with it . Every Faceit match I played and someone hit a good awp shot , it was KennyS spammed in chatbox . Till now , people are used to calling that name , when you dont really see him playing that good---with other players emerging now. His peak with awp was probably highest in GO and source .

If you're dependent on 1 weapon to be good....and that 1 weapon is so broken where you're able to move around and shoot so easily even in close quarters when its meant for long range shooting. You're not a "pro"...you're taking advantage of something that shouldn't be there.

Nerf brought up the coward device who only hold angles and is boring to watch.

The AWP has always been and will always be the most bullshit gun in CSGO. That's why it was banned in effectively all Source servers. Too bad that still isn't the case, CSGO might actually be approachable for the masses.
