Thank you for making these videos <3
ОтветитьI just use Geary because it's simple and looks best on GNOME
ОтветитьKmail is part of a suite called kontact. That will give you the calendar, address book, planner, etc
ОтветитьMailspring is also a good option
ОтветитьI would much rather have MY email on my computer, not just out there somewhere. I miss the days of Eudora.
ОтветитьHow about Mailspring? I been using it, and I like it. Love your videos, mate. Thanks and keep it up :D
ОтветитьI use Thunderbird. it's a great program. thanks for the video.
ОтветитьI gave up on mail apps, cause i need exchange with calendar support. Means i would have to use evolution and that's ugly as well
ОтветитьI have question. If you support open source apps, like thunderbird, did you ever click a donate button and donate for them some money? If no, it that mean you just use open source because is free and you don't want to pay for them. And this is not support for open source developer. This is my opinion.
ОтветитьI kinda have love-hate relationship with Outlook. The UI is great but not for UX, e.g. old Outlook can set where you want to save offline copy during wizard setup. Outlook 2016 onward only asks e-mail and password. Easy for normal user but bit tedious for advanced users. Backup and restore also a problem for Outlook. Not to mention corrupt for no reason.
Have to use Thunderbird and it's great so far although requires 3rd party for Exchange.
I've tried to switch to Thunderbird and Geary, but I always return to Evolution. I just like it so much. I don't find it ugly and I don't try to measure it up with some pre-made notions of what is a beautiful program these days. For me it works beautifully and it organizes and labels my emails beautifully with nice labeling options.
ОтветитьProtonMail has e2ee
ОтветитьWhich of these clients have security features, like not loading external resources in mails? I think Thunderbird does
Ответитьlinux user look about email apps and windows user need upgrade gpu for gaming 😂
ОтветитьPlease never stop making videos 🤩
ОтветитьI use Geary. It looks good, fits in well with Gnome, and the interface is simple and intuitive. I don't really need advanced features, and I prefer to use stand-alone calendars apps, so the lack of a built-in calendar is something I like.
Ответитьwhat about MailSpring
ОтветитьI don't like to rely on any local program, it is more efficient to configure than a single online mail to check other servers (POP3/SMTP) and with rules and tags to have everything organized. That gives freedom to have all my accounts and emails from anywhere, without the need for extra settings when switching devices or doing a system reinstallation.
ОтветитьMailspring i a good choice to
Ответитьgnus all the way.
Ответитьi kind of feel Kmail has been abandoned and its a shame.
ОтветитьThunderbird user here and it works very well for me. I have BlueMail installed on Linux but I don't use it. I also have BlueMail installed on Android and I installed it mostly so I could assist friends who I recommended BlueMail to. :) I use Outlook for work and despise it. Two things I like and use a LOT in Thunderbird are: 1) message filters (I have HUNDREDS defined); 2) Junk filtering (which is quite effective, but not perfect, once trained).
ОтветитьFinally
ОтветитьElectron-mail FTW!
ОтветитьGnome application that has menu and does not try to hide advanced settings? That sounds very weird.
I basically stopped using Thunderbird when our company switched to exchange server. There's likely a way how to access it via IMAP, but even then ... I used eM client which has free (not open source) version at least for Windows and I didn't like thunderbird when they dropped support for old extensions. What I didn't liked is that it did not add any functionality since Netscape Communicator, they redesigned GUI to worse, search functionality was always confusing. Once I bought Postbox which is based on Thunderbird and allowed functionality such as displaying attachment, filtering them by type or sender and so on ... while Thunderbird showed every single email with attached vcard as email with attachment. From some people it was every single email and attachments in coversation were impossible to find. There were many little bugs and nuisances like that and whole project seemed basically dead. Thinking about it, I haven't touched it for maybe 8 years, hopefully it evolved somehow.
Posteo is the best choice for email yeah its not free but its the best so it worths
ОтветитьI mostly receive mails from eBay, Amazon, message boards and rarely friends.
So technically I could indeed use my provider's webmail UI which is slick and easy to use as well but I don't want to.
I actually prefer having a dedicated program for mails on my machines so I use K-Mail on Linux and FairEMail on Android.
geary is the best for me, the downside is not on geary side but on Gnome Online Account, which having trouble logging my MS Exchange account (which works on Evolution)
ОтветитьThese videos are so good. My mom is getting tired of Microsoft and her needs are very basic. Other than browsing, it's just a little bit of Word, Excel for budgets and mails. I figured I might as well offer to get her up and running with Linux mint and see how she liked it and these videos with good alternatives have been great. In less than two hours I got her laptop up and running with Mint and configured (firewall, TimeShift, updated packages, etc.). Already setup Brave browser and OnlyOffice for her, as well as getting her backup-ready with Pika. Now I have some mail app options for her if she wants something other than Outlook webapp. I need to look into the anti-virus situation but other than that I'm pretty much done and she's super excited after seeing the screenshots.
ОтветитьWindows Mail has combined Inbox. Outlook doesn't and keeps trying to replace Windows Mail which deprives me of that functionality. So , which of all these has combined inbox?
ОтветитьSylpheed. But not suitable for people born after 1978.
ОтветитьGood info and lots of it, but tone down the chatter. You were 3 minutes into the video before the first mention of an app. Cheers!
ОтветитьWtf has happened to the free windows mail app, it's been replaced by this "new outlook" that is utterly unusable torture.
ОтветитьThunderbird is no longer free! When you hit download you are being blocked by a "donate" popup. The only way to download is a donation of 5$! So, Thuderbird costs 5$. that doesn't mean that it isnt't worth 5$, (I think it is worth more!) The thing is how they do it! I won't install Thunderbird anymore.
ОтветитьTried Microsoft Outlook (New) and I got bombarded with ads. Thanks but no thanks
ОтветитьDid you look into "Kontact"? it's an integrated Calendar, Email, Contacts, Journal and To-do List for KDE. The email in Kontact is handled by KMail
ОтветитьEM Client is also a good option
ОтветитьHow well does Thunderbird work on Android phones and tablets? if it doesn't work well, which ones do?
ОтветитьFun fact: there is something wrong with the flatpak version of bluemail. If you use the snap version gmail will work on it.
Ответитьcan we do mail merge
ОтветитьAbout Thunderbird, I would like a video showing how to customize its interface. I want to use it because it is open source, but I can't find all the layout options.
ОтветитьI use Thunderbird to encrypt my emails keeping google out of my business.
ОтветитьI was using just the regular Microsoft "Mail" app on my PC. I do not need anything fancy, just something that supports multiple email accounts from different providers. Now Microsoft has replaced it with the "New" outlook and as I'm installing it I notice that it says this new application will now deliver my email "through Microsoft Servers". So now Microsoft will be eavesdropping and datamining all of my email from any provider. Absolutely unacceptable.
Can you comment on these other applications? Do they do the same thing?
Youre a good man
ОтветитьI have tried Thunderbird and found it pants. What takes one click on MS office can take multiple clicks. Formatting on Thunderbird is terrible and can spend ages getting it right and it is very limited. Spell check never seemed to work and importing contact and emails from Outlook is pretty much impossible. For personal use where you are using it for simple tasks it would be ok, but for business and heavy uses, you are going to hate it as i did
