I did this a different way, more complete I think? You have IMO to be able to put the index finger anywhere and that’s the one, note and chord. Start on each individual string that’s the proverbial pathway up the neck. To do this I used 3 note triads. There is one for each string. Same way of course 3 maj 3 min 1 dim. Now you can play the major scale from anywhere and you’ll quickly be navigating the whole octave .
