I m Japanese. In Japan we have 無洗米which are already washed. I always buy those types. I think the rice sold in US is also washed to begin with. Try soaking them in water and see if the water turns white.

Dish washer is very common in Japanese households. I can't live without it. Popular dish washer brands are Japanese, German and Italian.

Most households have heated toilet seat and bidet.

As a Japanese, I feel like Chinese and Koreans are loud on phones and in public not just Americans.

The reason that the Chinese girl mentioned that subways and elevators ask people not to talk on their phone is because of a government campaign to increase general “civility” the reason is because it’s really common for people to talk on their phone on the train, bus, elevator etc

If you’ve lived in China, people answer their phone even in the cinema, and they’ll talk for 10-20 minutes. Not everyone of course… but if the cinema is at least half full, it’s guaranteed that someone will talk on the phone during the movie.

The bidet is a new thing in America, definitely a luxury item. Would be lot easier if we all had one.

My Dutch dad would always wash the rice.

In Switzerland and Italy almost everyone takes off their shoes outside, in my experience.

In India 🇮🇳, shoes kept on outside
In china 🇨🇳, they kept on machine for remove dirt and unhygienic smell
Even other countries doing like that also
When guests come in the house, the shoes are kept outside
But when normally entering a house, it's kept as machine to remove dirt and bad smell
I think other countries are doing this thing about shoes.

It's not common to take your shoes off before entering home in Brazil.

YOu'd need to wash rice because rice contains arsenic. If you don't eat daily as most asians do, then it's no big deal.

What they're saying about bidets are so true. They're not common in Sweden where I'm from and I had never used it, but used them all the time when I was in Japan, and now I feel like they should be standard everywhere. Never really feel clean anymore just wiping with tissues, lol.

Wearing shoes in our household is no, we even consider stepping on books and paper is bad because that is where we get our knowledge from...Come from a heavily traditional south Asian household...We did in fact have a dishwasher growing up in Canada, but we never used it : / it kept all the extra dishes in lol...To be honest though, I like cleaning the dishes myself though, at least that way I can always make sure it is 100000% clean lol....that is a personal preference.

Several things I want to discuss, ahem:
1) This video's title confuses me. "Asians and Americans". First off, some of the people in this video are from Europe. Second, Americans are super diverse. As an African American, for example, taking shoes off in the house is extremely important in my mother's home. If I don't take them off, I'm going to get a beating.

2) I have seen many Americans prepare rice, and I have never seen anyone around me wash their rice. But the rice tends to come prepackaged, like in France.

3) I have never had a dishwasher ever in my life, though I live in the USA. Even in my first apartment, they made it clear that there would be no dishwasher. I wouldn't even know how to use one. I sometimes feel like such an outcast in my own country because so many people seem to have used them and continue to use them.

What? In Canada we do not wear shoes in the home! That's disgusting.

I am from bd . When talking about asian culture you should have mentioned Indian culture which is the origin of all culture and customs.

As a Swiss:
I would never wear shoes inside.
I wash the rice (don‘t know how it is in general).
I don‘t use a bidet.
If I‘m with other people I either don‘t take the call and text that I can‘t right now, or (if I have to take it) I say sorry and take the call somewhere else and I would talk with a lower voice.
I definitely use the washing machine.

i don't know for other place but in Switzerland most people don't wear their shoes inside, as for me i like to sit on the floor but in switzerland perhaps because of the floor material and absence of heating floor you won't sit on it unless there is a carpet

American here. I grew up in a household that did not take their shoes off at the door, but as soon as I got my own place, I started because it definitely keeps my floors cleaner. I also built my house with a dishwasher, though I'm a single person; I batch cook and freeze, so I have a lot of dirty pots and pans once a week. One thing I have noticed in Korean kitchens is a clothes washing machine. Americans do not have washing machines in their kitchens. We put them in a separate room, down in the basement, out in the garage, but never in the kitchen. Except me. I have a washing machine in my kitchen. I also have a bidet attachment on my toilet! And I don't speak loudly on my phone in public because if I can help it, I don't even answer my phone.

In New Zealand its normal go outside and inside the house barefoot, no shoes needed!

Asns have spastic, jarring movements and talk in a very jarring way. Also they need to have control mentally over everything. They are not individuals. The only way they get along is through hive mind mentality. They cannot respect one another as individuals in the stereotypical asn appearance which is a result of their moral awareness

I'm swedish and I will not answer the phone if I'm in public like i'll text "what did you want"/"was it something important" and "I'll call when i get home"

I mean idk where this lady is from in the US, and obviously she lives in Korea now so she is probably at least somewhat traveled. But American's 100% yell on the phone compared to other countries lol. As an American I can say that's just a fact. If you travel around like anywhere in the south, Texas etc they yell, and then also all up the east coast NYC yell a ton then west coast also. Mostly like the mid west I feel like they don't yell as much, but they for sure speak louder then people in like, Hong Kong when I was there lol .
