The animation shows the largest earthquakes of the past 100 years and their locations. These earthquakes occur primarily at subduction zones, where tectonic plates collide. Some notable examples include the 1976 Tangshan earthquake in China, which had a magnitude of 7.1 and caused significant destruction and loss of life, and the 1960 Valdivia earthquake in Chile, which is the most powerful earthquake ever recorded with a magnitude of 9.5. The animation also highlights the global distribution of earthquake epicenters and the boundaries between tectonic plates.

Some Christian ministers have been prophesying for years that if America agrees to divide the land of Israel, then the continental United States will also get divided along the New Madrid fault line by a catastrophic earthquake. It'll crack the Mississippi wide open and turn it into a sea. The paths of the last two solar eclipses (one just yeaterday) literally trace an X right over the epicenter of the Madrid fault line. The total solar eclipse next April 2024, makes an X right across the middle of Texas.

According to Seismology California will not have an 8. 7.9 was the closest in 1906. However Oregon, Washington, and Vancouver BC could have a 9 according to the Cascadia faults. North America on 9.0’s in Alaska!

the faults along japan. chili and alaska are pretty active with major quakes, the faults along the west coast of America have been 'quiet'.... Lewis and Clark had conversations with the Clatsop Indians, they described a mega quake that unleashed hell on earth from all directions, massive mud flows and tidal waves, two generations back so i guess that would be in the neighborhood of 1765

Why on earth would you produce an animation about earthquakes and put the Atlantic in the middle? Put the Pacific in the middle and all the earthquakes will make sense. The earthquakes and volcanos make sense when you can see the ring of fire!

@BackSeatJunkie
@BackSeatJunkie - 14.03.2023 03:02

watching the "ring of fire", earthquakes locations seem to move in a counter-clockwise direction, for the most part. Every now and then an earthquake clockwise from the last earthquake will happen but that makes sense.....everthing shifted counterclockwise so that earthquake that happened clockwise from the prior one......had room to move.

where is the roermond earthquake from april 13, 1992 at 3:20 A.M. (CEST) it shooks the Netherlands and Germany.
the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale (5.4 on the moment magnitude scale) and was the strongest earthquake in the region since the Düren earthquake of 1756.
the epicenter was 4 km southwest of Roermond, the hypocenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 18 km.
as a european citizen, this was a major one in the region.
at the time i lived very close to a busy railway line and i was used to the house always shaking a little bit when a train passed by,
but never so bad that i woke up or otherwise got disturbed by it.
when the earthquake struck, i was woken up by the strong shaking of the cupboards, especially by the noise of the jingling glasses, and I thought that was a particularly heavy train.
i was 13 years old and obviously not that super smart!...
because it wobbled much longer than normal, i went to my parents' bedroom and asked what happened.
my father just said: "an earthquake." turned around and slept on.
since i live in the middle of western europe and am never remotely exposed to a real danger from earthquakes,
i can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to live near seismically active regions where you don't know when the next big one will happen.
my respect to the people who can and must live with it.
