Shane and I are both good talkers that have good attention to detail , but a Favero XC pedal glitch discussion earlier this year caused conflict between him and myself . People with similar personality types sometimes just won't get along , no matter how hard they try .
ОтветитьYou have to remember that Assioma was Favero's second product. They had the BePro out in 2015. That had some issues with the charging port and installation (you had to align the pedal with a lockring). So Assioma is a second generation for them having learning the issues with BePro - Assioma came out in 2017. They also outsourced the cycling bits of the pedal - pedal body and cleats etc to focus on the sensor and electronics which is their specialism. So one thing Favero did well - other than make a very good reliable product - is have patience. They didn't do a ton of marketing, they let their product and their own customers become their sales force by making a good product at a reasonable price. So Assioma is now 7 years old and still selling well. With other manufacturer it would have been replaced or revamped by now.
ОтветитьWoo! Eurobike! 🎉
ОтветитьFavero have good reputation and my son thinks they r great but mine r bad. They work for 2 or 3 runs then randomly switch to half output. These were new out of box and faulty out of box. Despite the fact i had explained that the issue was temporarily fixed by doing a recalibration they "proved" that there was no problem by .... testing after doing a reset. Now each eamail exchange takes 1.5 to 2 weeks. I am sure they have a geat product but at this cost the lack of effective support when something things does g9 wrong means i will look elsewhere. Oh and this so called warranty is costing £60.
ОтветитьTry microshift sword I am loving mine
ОтветитьFavero Assiomas were used in the UAE tour last year by the women's Team UAE ADQ. You remember, when Manon from GCN absolutely butchered the name Assioma by calling it Assomnia?
ОтветитьYup, the Garmin Edge 820 is the worst Garmin head unit I have ever owned, with its extremely finicky touchscreen.
ОтветитьFor me the issue around china and cheap brands comes down to safety. Failure on power meters etc are completely different than a carbon frame/wheelset/handlebar failure. For those things I want reliability and trustworthiness that most of the cheaper Chinese brands don't have.
ОтветитьLove, love, love Favero pedals!!!
ОтветитьPerfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon watching Shane Miller.
ОтветитьHas anyone mentioned ethical policies , Minimum wages ,H&S , pensions etc or do you only care about how much it costs you ?
ОтветитьI just cannot stomach the possibility that the companies and their product support might drop off the face of the planet. It does seem like more of them are establishing brands that stand behind their products but it’s really hard to get good reviews about this since they tend to cater to influencers. It would be nice if there was more of an open-source community behind the products they were making.
For example, android smartphones throughout the 2010s had some very interesting options coming from east-Asian manufacturers. I had a few and the phones I liked the most had a huge community around it, and they would often update phones if the manufacturer ever abandoned it or were too slow to provide important updates, like security updates.
Another example is mechanical keyboards. Most of the mechanical keyboards use firmware that are open source or maintained by a community. This means East Asian companies can often build a product around this software, but you will always be able to get some community support or figure it out yourself if you know how to program.
The tech coming out with bike companies worry me a little because a lot of them require an App to keep up to date. They aren’t using an open source or community standard that people can tinker with and improve or debug. Granted, a Powermeter or a Bike computer seems more complex to me than a keyboard, but shouldn’t really be more complex than a modern Android phone.
When you are saying power meter accuracy doesn't matter, the missing point to be made is that it only doesn't matter if it's internally consistent. If my indoor trainer read 200 watts whilst my bike's power meter read 300 watts, one or both must be inaccurate, but if I then train for six weeks and do an test that comes out at 225 and 325, they're both telling me that I got 25 watts more fit. As long as a rider knows his/her numbers for the meter they're. using out on the road, the absolute objective accuracy is irrelevant.
ОтветитьWe tested Cadel in the windtunnel!
ОтветитьI built a Winspace up and it’s banging!!!
ОтветитьWhen and where is the chop you are going to ride?
ОтветитьMy choice too: Chinese frame, wheels and bars, Shimano Ultegra Di2 12sp. Yoeleo R12 - been great all the way. Had an issue with one bike hub - Yoeleo sent a new hub so easy fix apart from having to wait to get on the bike. Di2 12sp is awesome - like perfect. And yes - I love my Varia!
ОтветитьShitmano strikes 100,000x again. SRAM customer service is top notch when you need it. With Shimano you need it but it doesn’t exist. I’ve warrantied and entire R9000 groupset now post crank recall
ОтветитьMatthieu van der Poel was using garmin pedals even through he had the Shimano PM in the bike. The cranks was great for generating lottery winning numbers though
ОтветитьThe only reason i watched this was because Shane was on it, interesting section on the climb-pro thing; i turn my climb thing off, at the end of the day you've got to muscle the climb my heads fried enough from the incline, THO it's really helpful if you ain't done the road 👍
ОтветитьFantastic discussion. Love having Lama the Legend just shooting the shit and being candid. Cheers guys!
ОтветитьI love how GPLama is holding back a few times from actually telling off these two morons 😂
ОтветитьThere's a perception in the US that most Chinese products are stolen IP from products manufactured in China. How does that color your recommendations?
ОтветитьMy favorite powermeter is stages (left crank) because is easy to use, accurate and convenient and only adds about 20g....
ОтветитьIf you want a well made carbon Fibre frame with a honest price think about Hongfu Bikes!
ОтветитьThat’s when China went deep on stealing western intellectual property and technology. Their patent are a criminal joke. I won’t give them a quid.
ОтветитьThumbs up at Dangling AH 😂. Great session guys.
ОтветитьFinally, my 3 favorite Aussie cyclists in one video! Loved it.
ОтветитьGreat show, fantastic guest, and zero shit takes (in this one)
ОтветитьThis Is outstanding content.Thanks
ОтветитьStages cycling going bust. Is it because they an't compete with the better / lower cost entrants?
ОтветитьI think tour de tietema are using Garmin rally pedals…
ОтветитьLove this, good content
ОтветитьAwesome chat lads!
ОтветитьWhat if Shimano is correct all along, that you have to put more power on the left side because it is on the other side of the drive train... so there are power loses
ОтветитьRE: the power meter discussion, I care if it's accurate but what's more important is that it's consistent. If it says my FTP is 1 million Watts, then I want to ride my zone 2 at 700,000 Watts and feel confident that the relative effort is accurate.
ОтветитьControversy definitely sells. Just ask Oprah.
ОтветитьAssiomas support is impeccable!
ОтветитьGCN? Does anyone watch it anymore?
ОтветитьShimano knew their hollowtech crank was faulty for years yet continued to deny and produce for the market, dont hold your breath waitkng for them to sort the PMeters
ОтветитьIf price were no object, Princeton Carbonworks is way ahead of any of the generic wheelsets out there from Taiwan.
ОтветитьFor Garmin wearales, I'm still on the 735xt because it connects to all my power and HR items, plus does triathlon multisport AND it's super light, so I don't get the bouncing that Shane was talking about.
ОтветитьGPLama is my go-to for product reviews… his review of Favero’s PM’s were what lead me to look into them - and ultimately purchasing them… along with my head unit(s) and keeping Zwift when I was gonna cancel it… 😂🍻
ОтветитьGreat to see Shane Miller on the channel. Big fan of him
ОтветитьWaiting for my Pro MX at the moment. Comms so far has been oddly comprehensive about every aspect of the purchase and delivery.
