thanks a lot... just what I wanted to figure out!

I just copied the VST plugin so I have multiple in my list of VST's. EX: Omnisphere, Omnisphere 1, Omnisphere 2 etc. then load them in to the individual channels. When I do it your way the sounds always play along with whatever other channel I'm trying to work on. So Omnisphere will continue to play through the midi controller even after I selected another channel, like something in Kontact. That is, until I bring the setting back to blank, or unassigned. which is why i just copy the VST.dll. It uses a little more CPU power to do it my way, but I don't have to keep going back and assigning and un-assigning channels. I just drop the VST to the channel I want, same with Kontact. then you can set up multiple multi's. It gets cluttered quick though.

Question for you mate. I’ve used Omnisphere inside Ableton, Reason & the Rack and now Bitwig. Having the ability to layer 8 patches is a little daft...or maybe I’m missing something? I layer patches in separate tracks. Why would I want to layer even 2 patches? The only reason I have thought of is to Modulate separate patches which would make patch design faster I imagine rather than modulating 2 tracks. Isn’t what DAWs do layering? Songwriting is layering isn’t it? I’ve never heard this argument before so the chances are that I’m missing something. But what? I didn’t buy Omnisphere solely for the layering capability. 8 brought it mainly for its sample control and fx but 8 often layer a couple of patches.

At the top 1-8, when I'm in the 2nd patch, I play my keyboard and it only plays the first patch. Can I stay in the 2nd and play and hear that sound? Instead of having to choose the midi out to play it. When I'm tweaking sounds I have to constantly play and hear it, otherwise making sounds would be a huge bitch
