It's not just full-time welders that inspect welds everywhere they go.
Welding is not my full-time job but I have to do it pretty often in my line of work.

yea, like the true welders of thisd world are given time off for stupid events like this... non of these people work.

I'm in awe at the levels, I mean this is space age welding techniques that not just only skyscrapers rely on thousands of ppl to live, but a new frontier

So I’m not trying to be ignorant or anything but I have every one of these certs and weld on pressure vessels for the nuclear energy industry daily and I have to weld things in position and they are as good as these so am I eligible to go to the world skills competition or is this just for students? I wouldn’t mind a free vacation lol

They should have hired some of these welders for the titan project……

I done a bit of fabricating as a teenager, loved welding, but moved on to other things.
I still check random welds all the time lol

Looking at welds is a sickness. There's a local restaurant that has an awning over the front access walks. The welds are sooooo ugly and cold and ropey I can't believe it hasn't fallen down yet. Been like four years, but damn it makes me wonder why I even try.

Thanks again Jody. You are always interesting and intriguing with you're videos. As a career welder I watched you're videos and it just felt right listening to you as you narrated the welding bead. Nah, not entering my sleep as some good jams on the electric guitar but the info I learned from you enabled me to tig aluminum (oh yeah, outside of course) on some beautiful windy day. Of course the aluminum ladder rack had to be welded to the aluminum 24v hummer roof parked caddy wampus on the hill while the trike and bike were parked in the garage getting some detail paint. My favorite part was either the 10 second or less beer box template I drew with a Sharpe that the owner was impressed with or the fact that one (or yes more) of the 1/8" x4" aluminum arched on the slip role didn't quite fit that part of the humvee roof because... well I was using the fold out extension of my lift gate and one of those steel grip foundry shirts I love to weld in as a pad and bending the radius tighter. I took the third trip back with the same piece as the Korean marine owner with a dojo? in his basement stood with his fists on his hips, I said "Mr Tae, it's not perfect" and I shrugged. He said "No LOLY, Humvee not perfect. YOU ARE PERFECT and he pointed at me and abruptly walked away...

I'm with the Skills USA Ohio state staff and it always amazes me how skilled these students are and how much they can get done is such a short time. Good Job and Congratulations to all how competed.

And Think You to Lincoln Electric for all they do for the students how compete at State, Nationals, and World contest. Thank You!

I was Canadas Secondary welding competitor and won gold on the national level. Unfortunately it alternates every year and I wasn’t allowed to go to the welding competition in 2022

I have no idea what half the words mean but I'm sure it's all super cool.
