Since buying the Style PS, it's been one of my favorite multi-tools to date. It isn't perfect, and doesn't do everything, but for its size and toolset, its quite a package. I especially love the fact that I can travel with it without worry. Why there's not more multi-tools on the market that offer a level of variety in tools at a compact size and without a blade, still surprises me. And the fact that the Style PS is being discontinued, is truly frustrating.
I say all this, something about the conversation you brought up on this video about safer mutli-tool alternatives gave me a huge idea for a product concept that is definitely feasible for me to produce that could solve the issue at hand. Hoping to be able to design and produce some prototypes really soon.
You're correct on the promotion thing, never heard of a Leap till now and probably would have bought it. I like a multitool for cycling, small and light is the way to go but full sized pliers. Removing the blade and more weight would be a good option. A real shame, have to see if I can pick one up still.
ОтветитьWE WANT THE JUICE
ОтветитьI didnt even know the Leap existed.
My kid is a bit young to have a multitool, but I'm still looking for a TSA compliant multitool. It's very frustrating
The Leap's saw doesn't have a tapered spine so it gets stuck if you try to saw anything thick. I believe this is intentional, prevents kids from sawing through a chair leg but still lets them learn about saws on little sticks and wooden dowels. But I strongly agree that there should've been a file there instead, and it's such a missed opportunity for a modular saw / knife blade system.
ОтветитьThe Leatherman Style PS being discontinued breaks my heart... been waiting for it to come back FOREVER.
ОтветитьTSA Compliance would be great on a modular multitool.
ОтветитьI just picked up a Victorinox Junior 09 for my son. I would've picked this thing up in a heart beat if I'd known it existed somewhere.
ОтветитьApparently there was a recall because the knife could come out or open.
ОтветитьCould you make the wire cutters coat hanger test with medium size multitools like the Leap, Sog Powerpint, Otacle P1 or Victorinox 91mm pliers? Thanks
ОтветитьYou could always apply to Leatherman to start getting tools made right the first time.
ОтветитьThe Leatherman Juice S2 should have never been discontinued... It was and is the best smaller multitool ever made.
ОтветитьHi.
In the video you mentioned repairing/loosening the pliers. Could you explain how to do that?
Thanks!
Any insight on whether or not there will be anything else to fill the void of the Squirt, Leap, Style etc? It seems like such a weird gap in the market to leave open, and if the community is anything to go by its sorely missed.
ОтветитьSchool is the main issue for the Leap. Ideally, you want a starter EDC tool. Blades and saws are banned with extreme prejudice. Maybe they should have checked with schools on allowed tools, which itself could be a marketing advantage. Maybe also pair up for an endorsement from some kind of scouting group.
ОтветитьNever got one for my son. Up until now I was misinformed that once the blade was installed it was permanent and that was a major reason I never got one 😢

ОтветитьI don't understand why bladeless multitools aren't everywhere.
Yes, for many, it's their only tool so they need a knife. But so many of us that suffer from the sharp edged sickness will always have a primary pocket knife, so we don't need a pot metal blade on our multi tool, and we don't want one.
you are crying about a saw when kids used to carry their own pocket knives and rifles Beta
ОтветитьWhere do you find all of the used knives and gear you have? Website?
ОтветитьModern DIY Leap alternative will be wingman with knife blade replaced by saw from sidekick
Not TSA friendly, but there are some countries where you're not allowed to carry any knife at all.
I suspect we're gonna see travel TSA tools here in the next year or so, thanks for proposing those changes. Prybars, hooks, files, openers are all good and can replace a blade. you can cut open boxes zip ties. Maybe cutting rope is a problem, but for travel, cutting rope you can also get a $3 box cutter and put in checked luggage.
ОтветитьWhy did they discontinue the style PS wtf?
At least I got one before they discontinued it unlike the squirt...
But now I have to be careful. I should have just bought two :/
Honestly I'm starting to just give up on Leatherman. A 25 year warranty doesn't mean anything if you discontinued the models... Especially your best models.
I need NexTool to make a wire stripper version of the Mini Sailor. That would fill the gap left by the Leatherman Squirt ES4.
ОтветитьWhen my kids were young i gave them a real knife. They learned quick.
ОтветитьGOAT needs to release a one-handle version; no pliers, just one handle side using their extensible platform. (Possibly with a hinge at both ends.) Custom build your own combination of tools on their existing platform. Great for kids, great for anyone that works in a blade-disallowed building, or flies a lot, or...
OK, their current platform has a few bugs still, but once they refine that, it seems like it would be a no-brainer second option. They already have all of the manufacturing setup (or nearly so). Maybe it would spook Victorinox enough that they'd start offering first-party customizations. 🙂 (A guy can dream...)
I always wanted to get a leap for my kiddo and then they discontinued it. Would love to see it brought back in exactly the way you described!
ОтветитьIf NexTool is watching your comments section I'm throwing my vote in. The nonavailability of bladeless tools is ridiculous, whether it be for 10yr or 50yr.
I guess the companies only see them as a one time purchase stepping stone... assuming Mom and Dad allow Jr to even get one before a real blade🤷🏻♂️
Leatherman style with scissors instead of pliers is really nice.. especially when paired with a pair of 100mm knippex pliers.
ОтветитьI carry a streamlight stylus 24/7. Could you do a comparison of lights with (2) AAA batt?
ОтветитьI had no idea these were even made! Such an awesome concept
ОтветитьTotally agree, marketing team🤷🏻♂️. Why can’t they make a series of multi tool for the non US market. I believe there was one that made quite a bit of cash.
ОтветитьIt really is a shame that the small multitool market has such a large void at the moment. I appreciate you speaking so much on it. Hopefully, someone will hear and pay attention.
ОтветитьTool set should include small craft capable scissors, screw drivers capable of use on toy batteries or erector set type kits, maybe a magnifier glass.
ОтветитьWhat is your age cutoff for these tools? Can’t see giving one of these to a kid younger then 12
ОтветитьSounds like a market segment that a smaller size goat tool would do well in.
Ответитьlove this video wish I could get one
Ответить4 Leathermans a Leaping! Awesome video Maxlvledc!
ОтветитьWhen I was 11 i had a wave+, just dull the hell out of the blades
