Useful as always, based on the usual clickbait titles elsewhere, I thought that the plot twist would be to just advise shooting handheld instead ;)
ОтветитьGlidecam for me aaaalllllll the way 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 no battery no firmware and no need to get tired just buy a vest 😜
ОтветитьDope feed
ОтветитьI enjoy both analog and digital not learning all sides is like a Bboy with no hiphop
ОтветитьAudio 🥰 your voice audio is A+ how?
ОтветитьGimbal is choppier where you are walking around a subject.
Is it just because of the smoothness of the gimbal or also the choppiness of the Sony sensor?
Great comparison video!
Ответитьthanks for the video. i want to shoot weddings with a stabilizer. and i have a nikon d850 tamron 24-70mm 2.8. i want to get a gimbal but i just learnt about the firnware issues with nikon and gimbals and the weight. so i was thinking of getting a glidecam. what do you think?
ОтветитьThe Wildcat by ifootage is a unique take on the "steadicam"
ОтветитьI started out with a glidecam for two years and just recently got a gimbal. The gimbal is easier to use and is less stressful on the wrist. Both are great tools and should be used for the right situation.
ОтветитьI'm all about that BASS, 'bout that BASS !! Haha your voice is mixed Dark Knight style ! ; )
ОтветитьHi Dave. I only do casual shoots as a hobby. Small mirrorless camera or a point and shoot. Would you recommend getting a glidecam? Also, how is the learning curve in using a glidecam? I'm interested in buying the Gildecam iGlide II (the small one) because gimbals are pricey.
ОтветитьInteresting take David. I'm shooting on m43 bodies with manual lenses. Ive been considering moving to the bmpcc 4k and using a combination of a rig and a gimbal for stable footage. Rig for handheld shots and the gimbal for the smooth work. Of course Ill have tripods and sliders for use but mostly the rig and gimbal. I already have glass which I enjoy using but it is all manual. With that in mind I have to use a follow focus when the camera is on a rig or a gimbal. Have you ever seen someone try to put a radio follow focus on a glidecam before? If so how did it turn out?
ОтветитьHey man, just starting out and appreciate the video. Two Cool looking guys too!
ОтветитьGood quality content 👍👍
ОтветитьNice video, just purchased the flycam as it was more affordable. Before getting my camera I was using the smooth 4 with my phone. I loved it but after getting my cam I waited on stabaliser. I used a mini tripod as a make shift stabaliser when shooting handheld, I kinda fell in love with the natural motion that was being introduced. So took the plunge with the flycam.
First off its bloody hard work using the manual one, I don't think people really appreciate the skill that goes into operating them, so your footage is excellent which is a testament to your skill. Keep it up man !
that glidecam looks pretty solid D.)
ОтветитьIt really doesn't matter what equipment you use, just work hard to master it and there shouldn't be a problem.
ОтветитьYo you need more subs
ОтветитьQuestion: if my camera has severe rolling shutter problems and it is only capable of 30fps.
Would you recommend Glidecam or Gimbal for cinematic recordings?
Great video. Thanks for all the sample footage! I live in OC as well. It looks like you're in a commercial area, did you have to get a permit to film in Costa Mesa?
ОтветитьGreat comparison. I own a glidecam and a couple gimbals. To me there's no comparison. The gimbals are WAY easier to use, easier to balance. I totally get that there is something maybe a bit more organic with glidecam footage, but that's not worth the usability tradeoffs IMO. Shooting mostly interiors, it's very important to keep verticals straight. With a gimbal that's easy, but even a very good glidecam operator has to be careful not to let the weights start to pendulum around. I'd rather have my attention on what I'm shooting...not if the thing is keeping level. Having said that, there are some easier shots to get with a glidecam, like panning around a corner as you approach it.
ОтветитьHaven’t used either one of them, but I’m leaning towards the glidecam. The footage taken using it is more organic, which makes it even more smoother than the gimbal, but without the robotic expression. The glidecam is definitely a tool that I think would make my work look a lot more cinematic.
Side note: from what I know, cinematographer cameramen have been using steadycams for decades. Glidecam, Vest and Side Arm.
Amazing audio right there
ОтветитьI used to have a fly cam but it got stolen on a gig. There is a very large learning curve with just being able to set it up to be balanced. And as soon as you change your lens the entire balance gets thrown off... or even if you just flip open your lcd screen... it will have to be re-balanced. Honestly it was a pain to use. I think it's time to get a gimbal.
ОтветитьThese are both gimbals. One is motorized, the other is not.
Ответитьthe wobble on glidecam is obvious
you need a better drop ballance
is glidecam dead?
ОтветитьFor the last three years I've been using an electronic gimbal. For years prior I had used my own diy steadicam and then a glidecam. I much prefer the manual gimbals than electronic. I think I will go back to a glidecam or merlin steadicam.
ОтветитьBeen using glidecam for over 8 years now and just bought my first gimbal last week, must say that both has its own purpose! However, I really like the control that you get with glidecam, it does feel like the extension of your arm!
ОтветитьI started using a glidecam back in 2011 then my own diy merlin type steadicam then a Came tv 150 stabilizer then several electronic gimbals and now back to a glidecam type of stabilizer. I love using the glidecam. Requires more skill and concentration but the end result is just as good or better than an electronic stabilizer
Ответитьwere there any stabilization on the camera or lens?
ОтветитьTwo years later, the Canon footage looks SO much better than the Sony. Beautifully stable footage with both systems - I congratulate you on your skills. Time you guys got a $200K Steadicam system?
ОтветитьLooks like glide cam looks more natural. Most of the award winning films are used with mechanical stabilizer maybe that’s the reason
