I was once in a training program for one of these, I won’t say which. Back then it didn’t yet have a name. I guess we were the founders. Today, as you said, it’s a household word. But my destiny led me elsewhere. The 2 guys standing next to me were not so lucky. Anyway, that training program was deemed a failure for some reason and they retired our company. They pushed things too far if you ask me. It was an experience.

Attrition rates when applying for spec ops are caused by 1) They only need so many people, and 2) they only take the people they like. Doesn't matter if someone is the strongest fastest smartest person there. If the guys on the team don't like your personality you don't make the cut. Likewise you can be one of the slower weaker candidates but if the guys like you, you pass. Attrition rates are not caused because it's just "that hard" and "that crazy". They are caused by an intentional desire to keep groups small, and because they only accept people they LIKE it has nothing to do with "passing" or "failing".
