Yes, over the last couple years since the pandemic, and since the actuvision aquistition. I would imagine sony is trying to save every possible dollar for future projects. Neither console could catch Nintendo this round so I'm not sure they are thinking about beating Microsoft anymore and just putting out quality games and hardware.

the thing is that rock stable 60fps is 10 times better then 120fps with VRR you can say 60fps VRR is better then stable 30fps but not for all games so this is not that Big of a deal for Consoles as it is on PC especially when only few games support it and games need specific patch to enable which literally excludes over 95% of All games on PS5 remember the games that will benefit the most from VRR PS4 games will NEVER get that features if it was a system feature that can be enabled on All games and games don't need game specific patch to enable it's going to be different but as it stands now it just a Gimmick for few games unfortunately since VRR is damn good but Sony is Sony after all

Just save people time and tell them at the start their TV must have VRR option in the TV menu.
Of course the Ps5 and the HDMi cable it came with will support VRR.

It's funny, I have a PS5, as well as a Sony OLED A8H, that I paid a LOT of money for, and it doesn't support VRR... 😂😂

VRR on unsupported games looks great. VRR on on supported games looks like crap in graphics quality. They should have option to dissable on game byt game basis.

Now have an 120Hz Capable TV, just installed VRR last week its an amazing function. Just ordered The Last Of Us Part 1 and am looking forward to the (upto) 90fps graphics. Have already played one of the Call Of Duty and that is an amazing 120fps with VRR👍👍

But play station doesn't have 120hz enabled at all times even last gen Xbox consoles did.

hello! if i put vrr on also for unsupported games, why if i start the game the game otmizer tells me that the vrr is off?

Does anyone know if this affects older games say fallout 4 or bloodborne? I turned it on and forgot I turned it on, put on fallout 4.and was like wow this is playable what changed? Am I just being dumb? Using an MSI monitor. I felt even bloodborne looked a little cleaner but idk I might just be trippin

This is a budget version of VRR unfortunately. Why they don’t use Freesynce like Xbox do is strange. Maybe there are licensing costs and Sony is trying to maximise it’s profits. Sony is using standard HDMI VRR which is capped to 48fps as a minimum. Fall below this, as many games at 4k will and you will get stuttering and screen tearing. FreeSync and GSync don’t have these limits.

Anyone had a chance to try out Dead by Daylight. I know it is not supported, but this is my favorite game and heard unsupported games got a boost as well.

I got a 4K LG TV but PS5 showed the message that "VRR isn't supported on my TV" damn, guess I'm gonna have to buy a new TV :/

VRR update is very lame as it’s limited to 48Hz and LFC has to be patched per game. Only because that’s what Sony TVs support

I don’t see the option on my PS5, so it leads me to think that maybe the HDMI cable that comes with the Elgato HD60 X doesn’t support VRR even though, as mentioned, it’s the only capture card on the market that does! Big oof if true.

If all that extra performance is left on the table then why don't they just make it a dynamic 4K - 1080p? Or maybe just improve some visuals
