FYI, it is illegal in CA and NY to retaliate to a sexual harassment complaint, which Baldoni/Depp-connected Nathan admit to doing. It also violated Baldoni/Lively contract to promote - not "bury" or smear - their co-stars. Baldoni has NOT proven Lively did the same thing. Lively followed the LAW. Baldoni has "denied" nothing and has NO defenses. Like Jay Z and Wynn and Trump, his illegal lying "defamation" filing should be THROWN OUT and incur huge fines. Rich guys cannot block journalism nor a plaintiff's day in court, ESP when it's a public figure.

Kjersti Flaa is a hack and only uses the women supporting women narrative when it fits her needs. She loved Kristin Stewart (who worked with woody allen). But then trashed Scarlett Johansson for working with Allen when Johansson called out James Franco. Then Kjersti does glowing interviews with Mel Gibson and Johnny Depp.

Honestly, the most iffy thing about all this is that women would rather support a pretend feminist handsome man that prides himself in being one than actually believing a real life woman that is a clear victim of misogynistic tactics. Worst of all these women also say that they have been victims as well and that‘s why they support Baldoni to make their statements more believable. It drives me carzy.

What I’ll never forget is Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong’s press junket for The Apprentice, where they were asked about representing someone so controversial. Their expressions were bored, unbothered, and downright disinterested and rude towards the interviewer. Yet on Twitter, it was all, “OMG, they’re so funny! I can’t believe how unbothered they are!”

Now imagine if two women acted like that.

I'm not gonna lie. I never ONCE believed what people were saying about Blake. She's been in the industry for YEARS if she was what they were saying we would have known sooner. It's disgusting how fast people turn on woman.

Thanks for explaining the astroturfing process. I recognized the pattern but did not know there was an official term. I did not believe any of it when the story first broke. As soon as I saw the video of Blake and Parker interview with the reporter - Kjersti? - and the first comment was about Blake’s pregnancy I immediately thought it was sus. My guess was it was press for a movie, and while press junket interviews are unfamiliar to most as a professional setting that’s what I would call it. It’s not acceptable to comment on someone’s pregnancy, I could understand why Blake was curt and tried to deflect. That Parker was going along with Blake’s reaction also made me think there was context missing and not enough evidence in that clip to make a judgment about her supposed diva behavior. Blake may not be the parasocial BFF people want her to be, but she has never seemed to be anything less than professional. The art of evaluating media for bias was taught in my English classes in high school (“back in the day” pre-Internet), I wonder if it’s a lesson that has fallen by the wayside in the age of social media.

I 100% agree. For weeks I have been posting the actual facts, hoping to negate Justin Baldoni's smear campaign against Blake Lively. I hope I got through to some. I saw those messages between Justin Baldoni, Jennifer Abel, and Melissa Nathan. I made screenshots of 6 of those messages from a You Tuber who posted them defending Blake Lively. I'm guessing you have copies too.
FYI, the marketing angle of "postivity over violence" was created by Baldoni and Lively was contractually obligated to follow his plan. Blake Lively received a lot of criticism for it. After which, Baldoni started posting the opposite viewpoints, focusing on the violence. Another attempt to smear Blake Lively.

Edit: Kjersti Flaa is one person that I messaged, multiple times. I suggested she get copies of those messages. I also said her her interview questions were the problem, not the person(s) being interviewed.

Zack, you are seriously such an incredible journalist. I’ve been watching you for at least two years by now, and you still manage to catch me off guard with the quality of your content. We need to find spaces far away from social media and make them cool again, urgently. I'm not even kidding. People jump onto a tendency and follow it blindly just because a random person on Twitter made a two line comment with no information or source to back anything up. It's madness and it's destroying, literally, the world. I believe humans are losing something fundamentally humane and I fear we won't be able to get it back... AI is only gonna make things worse.

I think it’s so funny how commentary channels like this post videos immediately after stuff gets posted online without waiting for a reaction. Baldonis team uploaded their side of this and can prove Blake’s team withheld content and can prove she refused to work with an intimate coordinated and that she invited him into her room while breastfeeding 😅 feels like people need to jump on the latest news for clicks and seem to forget their brains on the way.

Look. For what it looks like it does seem like Baldoni is an abuser and I personally am not sure how I would cope if I was in Blake's shoes. HOWEVER. I also don't think it serves any woman's autonomy to say "she was just doing what everyone does/what she was told in the press tour". I think if she could get hers as the final cut (as. she. should.) she could've done better in the press (I even heard her PR team signed off on this, not sure if true). Just because she made mistakes along the way doesn't mean she deserves to be abused. Nobody is perfect, so when you try to sell this version of her that is, it can be really damaging in the long run because once people realize a woman is not perfect it is frequently used as justification for abuse. This is my opinion, and since you're a journalist I would love to see you explore more nuanced povs since this is a very delicate topic.

I wonder what your take is now with Baldoni's side of the story out. I think the truth is somewhere in the grey between the two but it is interesting that his evidence includes full conversations and hers are partial editted snippets.
I don't subscribe to Justin's podcast but I have seen snippets on Tiktok for years. He's also written books about vulnerable masculinity and directed films about serious topics in the past so even as a non-superfan, the complaint of sexual harassment really seemed out of character to me and I was disappointed for falling for the good guy and feminist ally act for so long. The new information that he released in his complaint against the NYTs is more inline with the character he's upheld in the past but I'm really just planning to observe quietly before casting further judgment.
Right now, all I got to say is if Blake's story is true, I'm utterly disgusted that Justin had me fooled for so long.
If Justin's side is true, I'm deeply disappointed in Blake because this is the reason why women have such a hard time being believed when they accuse men of SA or SH. These allegations are no joke and if they are not true, it does discredit so many stories of experiences like this.

I think we should all wait to see what claims actually check out from either side, since now there’s a countersuit and there will be more that comes out in discovery.

What's horrifying is that these men have a force field of arrogance around them that protects them from accountability. Any time they think back on being exposed, they will see it as them being wronged. Meanwhile, the women, regardless of their innocence and potential vindication, will never fully recover. The self-doubt was implemented in them, the crucifixion scarred them for life, and the enemies that emerged along the way will wait in the tranches for an opportunity to strike again so they can be in the right for attacking her in the first place. It's disgusting.

This video will not age well. How do you feel about it after the lawsuit filed? And all the texts and messages she purposely kept from her complaint that made her look super guilty? Hope there’s a follow up video circling back on how YOU will also learn how to properly digest media prior to making your case for someone who is clearly a massive brat on and off set.
