What would have fixed all the problems is easy battery replacement pull up to a station and get a replacement battery
ОтветитьI generally agree with your points.
One issue buyers of new, and near new, EVs may face is when they come to sell. If used car buyers are put off buying an older used EV because of the reasons you outline - high cost of battery replacement and the vehicle going out of warranty - the new EV buyer will have no one to sell their used EV to.
I have four petrol cars and and I have always been a buyer of used cars aged 10 years or older. This approach has saved me many thousands of dollars throughout my life. When an EV is 10 years old no one in their right mind would buy it. I for one certainly wouldn't. The value of an old EV will be far less than its battery replacement will cost. So EVs will have a much shorter lifespan than traditional petrol cars, which will pose big environmental problems in the coming years. And auto wreckers/dismantlers will become very hesitant to take them due to the fire hazard risk from old and crash-damaged batteries self-igniting in the yard. This has happened in Auckland, New Zealand, twice already, and its still early days.
Here in New Zealand we've had major weather events that have taken down pine forests and so we have loads of 'slash' damaging the environment. This slash could be used to make low emission petrol. P1 Fuel is a German company who already make very low emission petrol out of wood chips and other organic material. P1 Fuel's petrol was used in Toyota-powered race cars in the New Zealand Grand Prix series, 2024. P1's fuel may well mean that petrol power remains with us for a very long time yet, if not forever.
Wow, what a fear-mongering asshole!
ОтветитьI am grateful for your (Fossil Fuel Sponsored) misinformation. Your work allowed me to pay 20 cents on the dollar for a used Tesla. It is a wonderful car. People mistake it for a new one daily. Dim witted hotheads goose their throttles alongside me at intersections wanting to race. I don’t have the heart to show them how my Tessie can tromp their precious V-8 with my 750hp.
ОтветитьThese problems are legit, but vastly overblown. All the examples are outliers, or one-offs, or only/mostly apply to older EVs, or have simple solutions, or, a big one, is that they mostly apply to non-Teslas. Also, and most importantly, these problems are being presented as if ICE cars don't have a HUGE list of problems of their own. When choosing EV vs ICE, it's their COMPARATIVE pros and cons you need to weigh. And for most people in most situations an objective comparison would show that an EV is better.
ОтветитьThis is all click bait directly from bias sources, it’s not properly researched or balanced at all. EVs are not perfect but they’re far better than ice vehicles.
ОтветитьHave owned EVs for 6 years now and their is no going back to the old dinosaur juice vehicles. The sooner you stop listening clickbait the better of you will be.
ОтветитьAfter 85k miles on my 2014 tesla S I have had only one warranty issue. One set of tires. That's it. Battery costs are going down. Newer battery chemistry will reduce costs even more. I will never go back to an ice.
ОтветитьThe number one most important accessory to add to your EV is a bike rack.
ОтветитьNo car is ever an investment so expect depreciation to be a factor. EV’s work for a lot of people who carefully consider their driving habits and understand how an EV will be useful. If you have a Tesla, the Superchargers are a big benefit. To trash EV’s in general just isn’t fair.
ОтветитьTesla all day long… All other EVs are a joke
ОтветитьObviously the guy that made this video does not own an EV. The last time I checked electricity is not a rare commodity. Everyone I know uses it. I can charge my Tesla from any outlet. The last time I used a Super Charger was over two months ago. The last time I used a public charger was 4 or 5 years ago. The only time you will ever have to charge outside of your home is on vacation and trips. Goes what my EV battery had never gone dead. I've never broke down. I've never not made it to my destination. I have gas vehicles but I drive my EV because it's about 1/10 the price of gas to drive the same distance.
ОтветитьI live in the Caribbean county where it never snow. Electric cars makes lots of sence also there is many solar in my country😊
ОтветитьNice to know that gas cars don't have costly engine and transmission failures.
ОтветитьBiggest concern is that this is obciously biased bordering on misinformation with elements of truth. Most stated concerns are not relevant to a Tesla. Cold weather is also a problem for ICE cars. They freeze up unless you plug in the block heater. A repair I needed was done on warranty and at home with zero inconvenience and zero cost. for maintenance I have free tire rotation and paid $6 at walmart for windshield washer fluid. Insurance through Tesla is monthly about $90 on ave. I have done multiple long road trips with no issues and my Model Y is the best car all around by far that I have ever owned. So, no " 5 biggest problems" here.
ОтветитьThat Consumer Reports included noises and squeeks as a major reliability issue SO IT IS A FAKE REPORT!
ОтветитьInteresting provider:

Can sell people car advice since you don't have a fraction of the problems with electric cars versus gas!
Owned one for 5 years none of this was a concern
ОтветитьSounds like fossil fuel company propaganda to ne.
ОтветитьCan doors be opened in case of crash and burn ?
ОтветитьUnless you have clear data showing otherwise, the main reason for depreciation issues with EVs is the price reductions and repaid advancement in technology. Price reductions is the easiest to see in action. It is a double-edged sword since initial price has been a major concern with EVs - but reducing their price causes resell/depreciation issues. Since I normally keep my vehicles for 10 years, this is less of a concern for me - I'd rather have more affordable vehicle available - this is at a time when most other vehicles are increasing in price.
Insurance is something you have to shop around. I haven't had issues finding reasonable rates.
I am honestly looking into the the New 2024or 2025 Honda CRV SUV Proloque machine to lease for around 4 years! Is this truly a reasonable and affordable price thing to do right now in my case ❤❤❤😂!
ОтветитьThank you. I was surprised, tho, that you neglected to mention that the cost of electricity is only going to go up, up, up. There will be no savings over time.
ОтветитьHow can I give double thumbs down to this fanboy?
ОтветитьI'm a never musk guy.
Just a rotten rotten human.
Lexus/Toyota hybrids for me. I feel they're the closest thing to a long term investment that last forever, won't see shop time, great resale, fuel efficient, cheap to service, cheap to insure, virtually all models recommended by Consumer Reports.
What else is there? 👍
If you want one fine if it works for you fine. But how dare the government force people like me who dont want one be forced to buy one.
ОтветитьI was so into ev and hybrid until my friends had to replace their batteries. It’s not just EVs that need replacement batteries but also hybrids. After spending 5k+ on their hybrid battery, I’m sticking to my gas car. I have a 2007 Scion tC and battery replacements cost me less than 100. My friends have newer hybrids and theirs cost 5k+ replacements after only a few years.
ОтветитьI just wonder if the presenter has any experience of buying or owning an EV. The points being made in the video are essentially the same old tropes that have been trotted out for years and beloved of petrol heads and oil industry executives. I own a KIA Niro EV, I am on my fourth EV and would not go back to petrol or hybrid. The total cost of ownership allows me to own a relatively high spec EV for the cost of a very average petrol car. I have had zero reliability issues and I charge 99% of the time at home overnight on cheap rate electricity. At my age, the range of my car is approximately 2.5 times the range of my bladder, so range anxiety simply does not exist, even on longer journeys. A modern EV can typically run over 400km at motorway speed, even with climate control systems on. This video simply does not reflect the reality of current EV ownership.
ОтветитьThe nightmare will not necessarily affect the first owner. The second and third owners and beyond will bear the brunt of the twilight zone type problems lurking around the corner. Vehicles don’t remain new forever.
ОтветитьIt’s pretty obvious that the sensible option is lease deals rather than outright ownership. Get your maintenance covered in the deal, and dont worry about longer term resale value drop.
ОтветитьActually spit my drink out laughing when he called the batteries a ticking time bomb.
ОтветитьEV needs more education and thinking on the part of the driver. I have had at least one EV in my garage for almost 10 years and never had any of your problems.
Agree that people who cannot charge at home or work is not suitable for EV though.
EV's are simple - pay upfront for all the gas you might ever have used in an equivaent ICE vehicle. Also pay extra for charging if you depend on charge stations at the mall etc. At the end if you make it past the warranty the the batteries will fail and the cost to replace them will make the car almost worthless. You may alos experience some electronic board failure of some kind to find out that the componets are extremely expensive and hard to get after 4-5 years. We hafd a Kia soul - this was our experience.
ОтветитьLot of defensive comments here. Chumpish optimism perhaps. People who enjoy higher prices, interest rates, illegal immigration, and Bidumbnomics
ОтветитьCall me cynical, but a warranty is only good if the dealer is willing to honor it; if not, you’re hosed! (And so is your EV!) Dealerships are always looking for legal loopholes to weasel out of paying for repairs.
ОтветитьFollowing a trend on any video about EVs. Those who own one usually are satisfied with the vehicle. Those who own 1278 Toyota Corolla will give you the most detailed list of problems and reasons why EVs are devil's work.
Ответитьpara americanos e canadenses, sem problemas, eles tem dinheiro para trocar de carro duas vezes ao ano, agora povos subdesenvolvidos como nós brasileiros, estamos ferrados.
ОтветитьAre the batteries recyclable, or rebuildable? Are we going to have a new hazardous waste problem
ОтветитьGreat channel!
ОтветитьThese are the reasons why i recently bought a new Hybrid gasoline car instead.
I refuse to sit 30 minutes at a gas station to charge too.
Non EV people giving us EV owners their expertise about EVs. I love it
ОтветитьThe whole ev game is a conjob.
ОтветитьClick bait from a click-bait artist. UNSUBSCRIBED!
ОтветитьThis is racism
ОтветитьHave a BMW i3 in Ontario. Very happy with it. Period.
ОтветитьI guarantee you most cars that have battery issues end up in the compact yard nobody will want to /can afford to pay that much money when you can just get a brand new car
ОтветитьI planned on purchasing BEV until @ year and a half ago. Got a 24 Corolla Cross AWD hybrid in April. So glad I did! After learning how to hyper mile, presently getting 80mpg+! 70%+ ev! NW OryGONE...
ОтветитьFull hybrids are the best. Not plug-ins since they have similar life expectancy issues. Go for hybrids with Atkinson cycle ICE engines and eCVT trannies. Avoid any turbo or eco ICE mated to regular CVT hybrids.
EVs are good for local drivers with a secure at-home chargers outdoors not in a garage. If in a public access apt. complex the cord could be pulled or stolen for its copper by vandals.
Glad to have found a channel that just gives no nonsense information with no sugar coating. Thanks
ОтветитьAs the current technical design of now the EV's made, the market for EV's is going the way of the 1958 Edsel.
And this is just the beginning.
