Honestly if the epa wanted to not have you spill gas they would just require you to use an electric pump. Got one for 20 bucks and it’s the best. Don’t have hold anything while trying to fill up a boat or atv or anything else. Just set it down and let the pump do the work.

They still make steel gas cans and they don't cost that much more. Just go buy one of those and it will last for generations.

Just buy the slinky hose spout next to the gas cans. Trash the original spout. Run a self tapper for a vent

Leavw the spout a little loose sonit can vent. Mine split the seam at the handle. I'll try these fixes for the awful spout.

You need to add one of the aftermarket vents.

Just buy the spout kit from a place like ruralking replace the spout drill hole for the replacement vent and install

I literally had splash back from that stupid nozzle ..got it into my eyes ,face ,nose and mouth 2 days ago and my eyes are still burning..whoever invented that thing hopefully gets herpes.

I was trying to fill today and had to go slow or it splashed back...The gas nozzle wants to go full on.

I just pour it without the spout. But that's actually because the spout for this particular can has been MIA for years. Good thing I only use it to fill the lawn mower which has a good size gas fill mouth on the tank.

How does the filter make this can better? Pour gas in can,filter catches it,pour gas out of can into lawnmower whatever is in filter goes in lawnmower to.

Ive been buying those utility jug gas cans with the rubber hose as the spout. Honestly they’re pretty convenient.

I can spills allot of gas using that style can. Some thoughts on the mods. A can should seal so you don’t loose vapor. With the spring and o ring gone i assume it off gasses now. So in summer heat some of your gas evaporates before you can use it. And the inside screen causes it to overflow when filled too fast, but not sure if it plays s role as a flame arrestor in event of a fire.

I was stuck in the middle of damned traffic trying figure this piece of crap out. A guy jumped out of his truck to help me and he couldn’t figure it out either. I got this junk home and modified it immediately. I also took a metal piece, opened the spring loaded valve and blocked it from closing. Imagine if I’d been alone on the side of the road in the dark and someone grabbed me because this stupid design. (My fuel gauge doesn’t work)

EPA and some politicians make things that are abominations. Should be abolished.

Step one - just buy your petrol cans from the UK

Now it just needs a vent.

What if the “filter” you have just removed is actually a flame arrestor? Now you’ve got a very dangerous gas can.

i like the really old gas cans with the vent on the other side.. i dont use the midland ones. i got the walmart "3 HAND GAS CANS" 1 hand holds the handle 2nd hand bottom of can to pour 3rd.. hand to press in that stupid green button??? which i quickly learned to put cable ties around to stay pressed in so as God made me with 2 🙌 hands i only need 2 now.

This dumb stuff is the new norm. I replaced my old gas can because the nossle broke apart only to find this gas can is like 100% times worse. I have never wasted so much gas... I'll try your fix. Anything beats this thing.

I broke the cap on my spout and they wan't $9.98 for a new spout. I wish I could find a cheap replacement spout.

You can get replacement nozzles that don't have this bullshit and they flex.
If the threads don't match, just use the nozzle and reuse the nut.

For everyone not American; their gas cans suck because they’re not allowed to have hoses with a vent tube. That’s why your gas cans like this are fine

Just pop off the red lock, and it's fine. Taking out the spring isn't necessary

I wish you'd have done this for people who aren't mechanically-inclined because I have no idea what you're doing when you go to take the spring out and go to put it back on. 🤯😂 It sort of seems like there's parts disappearing and reappearing.

Midwest plastic cans are quality. Just scrap the government nozzle . Amazon and ebay sell the "regular" spouts all day.

If you have a funnel in the back trunk, just use that, youll blow a literal head gasket trying to use this thing smh
