Thank you for this video but… what about aliasing on the hudrasynth?

I have 4 analog synths and I use a midi controller connected to my iPad Pro for all my digital synths needs. I’m thinking of getting a Korg Modwave just to have a hardware digital synth but I have so many great sounding digital synths on my IPad that I’m not in a rush tbh

Thanks for this and still the best explanation of the too types! Which it really sounds like the analog snyth steps on the digital snyth toes like the digital snyth steps on the software synyth toes... Which I'm deciding whether to get a Arturia KeyLab Essential 49 midi controller to go with my software syth or an ASM Hydrasynth Explorer digital heardwear snyth to add to my softwear snyth pretty much it's down to budget. But I thought it bring up a good point I decide against a analogue syth as I grew up with digital synth sounds and my use case in an armchair and moving the syth around my room. I don't think an anolg would work in that case as it would be to heavy and fragile... Which why a heardwear snyth at all? The unique sound and physical controls which is why the hydra sound is my choice it sounds great and covers all of what snyth today can do with an easy to use interface. Which goes back to my thought... It sounds like pick the snyth that fits your style above all else.

Ohhh it's both the hardware sense and the input sense... Anloge hardware is made of stuff and old process think a spring steel sword/machinal clock while digital hardware is just circuits a computer think a light saber/qurtz clock... Analog inputs a curve, digital intput is on/off think a joystick to a(Read most) PC keyboards.... That is litterly the first time I ever heard those be used to describe one thing... Fasnating.

Digital definitely. Being analog is like watching people using an obscure operative system version instead of being practical with windows or Linux.

This 2022 black friday both the hydrasynth and the matriarch had very good discounts. So I got both!

Technical specifications aside though, it's really down to your personal taste in character. An analog synth might sound sweeter, but the digital synth might have that gnarly distinction you've been looking for.
Seriously though..... any analog synth which doesn't now grant you the option of saving presets in 2022 is surely being sadistic for the sake of snobbery.

It seems to depend on your bank balance as a decent Oberheim or a Sequential Circuits seem to be up in the £3000 to £4000 range!

Gaia is what happens when you try to make a "Swiss pocket knife" synth. It can do some many things, but it only does a few of them well. I'm glad I didn't buy it when I was thinking about it, because 2 of my friends did and after playing around with it for awhile I found the sound to be mediocre and the filters quite appalling. But I can see how one could use it as a portable synth for gigs, or your go to FX synth for DJs, versatility is a definite factor.

Well , I needed a good piano sound so when is saw 400 euro for a Yamaha PSR9000 then I did buy this. It has 2 arm 32bit CPU Renesas SH7403 , 24 bit 96kz DA and 20 bit AD , polyphony 126 and added Yamaha Tyros 3 sounds. The SH7403 runs at 28 Mhz.

Analogue synths but your allowed to have 1 digital synth and only 1 unless it’s a keytar. As hybrid they’re an abomination and should be tossed back into the volcano from which they were forged. It’s far to much power for just one person.

The way i put it is, if ur somewhat limited by money, get a digital synth for polyphonic purposes like a hydra and a mono analog for melodic or bass purposes then you will get the best of both worlds because to me analog poly synths are kinda pointless when u have digital synths with way more sound capabilities.

Saying that if u have infinite money, just get an 8 voice moog one and live happily.

it all depends on how much money you have.....digital is wayyyyyyy cheaper but not as good......analog has become a rich ppl thing....sad but true

Somtimes i feel like i can tell the difference when listning to music. Like yep thats definitely analogue but somtimes it may be placibo. When digital synths are saturated, reverbed, chorus ect it can be pretty convincing to think its analog

Chords on digital polysynth and lead and bass on analogue? Start digital because it's cheaper, will stay in tune, and can do everything. Then specialise when you know what you're doing and what you really want?

Actually, one could argue that human brain works in digital (discrete) manner. The neuron impulses are all 70 millivolt, and the intensity of the nerve impulse is not expressed in the variation of voltage, the intensity is expressed in the number of those 70 millivolt impulses per unit of time. Doesn't it sound like discrete math? It does to me. So, if we bypass the air as the transformer, and attach the digital-to-neuron-impulse converter directly to the auditory nerve, we might not even need the analog stage anymore.

Daniel: What are your views on the Polybrute? I am thinking of that, Hydrasynth, The Sledge.

I think we should not look at it as whats better ect. Its just 2 different kind of synths

Analog synths have a "fatter" sound , less options ? Digital synths have more options and custom sound adjustments ?

My favorite of the two is Digital, now remember… “favorite” doesn’t mean “best” I just like it the most for my needs. Digital has its place and Analog has its place, it’s just based of preference, neither is better. It’s like trying to say who the best football player on the team is, you can’t, because each of them is doing something completely different, and serving a purpose.

Analog have better resolution than digital because digital is so exact... Analog sounds natural.. deep... moving.. because it has small random mistakes.. Digital is often too cold and simple.
