How to Join Letters for Laser Cutting Names in Adobe Illustrator

hi, When i click unit on the pathfinder after adding multiple designs into one pendant--> it only remains the outer circle. But not the designs inside.... Kindly help? You have an email? I can share before and after pictures of my design.
