I don’t blame Claire for hating Paul he was quite toxic to Rudeus.He once blamed and hit Rudeus for a fight that wasn’t his fault without listening to his side,Paul was 25 at the time so it can’t be dismissed as a learning moment.There was also the fight he had with Rudeus at the bar,I know a lot of the fandom thinks Paul was in the right but he dissed Rudeus first and he also threw the first punch so objectively Paul started it,plus it was a grown man being drunk and punching his 11 year old son.The next day when he tried to make up with Rudeus was quite annoying he tried to complement Rudeus by calling him a womanizer which is the word he used to insult him the day before plus it was degrading to Eris(he should have been more humble if he wanted to apologize).As for him cheating on Zenith,I know the fandom likes to defend him by saying Lilia seduced him but she’s not the one who made the vows.There’s also the fact that he is always quick to judge and berate Rudeus even though he himself made so many mistakes during his life(he raped a girl when he was 13).I could have forgiven all of this if he was just a scum bag but he is also a self-righteous hot head.He only raised Rudeus for five years yet he thinks he can demand so much from him.

I think this was in volumes 20 and 21 of the light novels. This part was one of the most frustrating parts in the whole series tbh. I wanted to punch Claire thru the screen repeatedly. But then comes the redemption part and it was beautiful. Especially, the part where we get to see Zenith’s reaction to the Church verdict against her mom and her memories since living with Rudues.
