My own camcorder shocked me ! VX981

Just ordered a VX981k after watching a few of your videos.

Thanks a lot for putting in the effort to give an expert revirw of these cameras and camcorders. In one of your videos of taking pictures with camcorders, you showed pictures from Panasonic V800 to be good enough. If you would please do a review of Panasonic V800 for video and stabilization at zoom, I'd appreciate it a lot and buy you coffee whenever we meet 😊😊

You got me sold dude. I just got 2 camcorders - a retro looking one (Sony SR68) and a decent quality one (Sony XR500V) and looking to buy more... targetting a handy prosumer one. The price is like buying a mirrorless body but it comes WITH all the zoom you ever need. So yeah, SOLD on camcorders.

Hi, I have a vx980, but... Why not a Sony ax53? Can you do a comparison?

thanks to refocused me on our creation process and less care about tools. after my pana camcorder broke, I was looking at something else. Having a lot of Pentax lenses and searching for a cheap dslr Pentax , as my others were broken too, I found that the video shoot by the Pentax k7 in 'only' 1,536 x 1,024 30 fps is just what I needed, coupled with good lenses. No more artificial crisp pixels or super bayer computer colors. Thanks again to all time remind the basics and put creativity and skills upon any gear ;)

I almost had a camera module that would record 4K for the Raspberry Pi. Somebody beat me to it. I'd love to see you trying to make a movie using a DIY 4K camcorder using something made from a Raspberry Pi. I might put together a VGA camcorder just for the fun of it and see what I can do.

1. You should show how you are softening the image by adjusting the sharpness control that's within the cameras settings.

2. If you don't need 4K then buy the Panasonic HC-V770 or the HC-V785 because it is the same camera without 4K plus you get more zoom for more blurry backgrounds.
Also, you will pay half as much. Why pay more if you don't have to ❔

I tested one camera randomly and found out that I got results which are not advertised on any site I can find, so it had a hidden feature perhaps with some really sophisticated software onboard... on one old camera with 60+ optical I got a 500x zoom feature which I have found to be pretty astounding in quality!!!, which I believe matches the Nikon p1000 with 4x digital zoom, down side is the format of the picture is VGA, but the quality is striking and refined I found for distance photos. I also found a camcorder with 70x optical zoom which has 3000 digital zoom... interesting for scoping out the distance, both were relatively cheap, obviously not for quality but for practical purposes, I also got a 3d camcorder the ViewSonic VC3D2 which I got for 10's instead of 100's or 1000's , and a gorgeous 35mm Nikon Nuvis S - there is amazing stuff out there! I want to be a 4K camera

Hi Markus,

I've noticed that you're an expert with camcorders. I'm planning to film a 2-3 hour long walk-and-talk video at an indoor dog show event in a large exhibition hall. I want to do this continuously without worrying about overheating, constantly changing batteries, or ending up with poor video quality. Additionally, I'd prefer not to lug around a super heavy camera the whole time. Could you recommend a good camera for this purpose? It would be great if it had a bit of optical zoom as well.

Hi do you know if there is a difference between the vx980 and the vx981?

The very first camera I bought to start making videos was a used little Panasonic camcorder I found in a pawn shop. $40. It’s back home in my closet now and I don’t even remember the model. A year later I found another small Sony camcorder to use for shots on the targets I was shooting. Both did great and I still have them, but now with 4 Sony mirrorless DSLR type cameras and a bunch of other lenses, I don’t use the camcorders anymore because both were only 1080P and I shoot mostly in 4K now. But a 40 dollar camcorder started it!

Probably not your specialty, but do you have any experience or recommendation which camera is best for night time sky video, or for example to be able to capture a UFO on video the most clearly? It would need to have a fairly decent zoom an excellent light sensitivity

My friend captured one that he's been seeing frequently with his Galaxy s22 plus and it's definitely real but I would like to capture a more detailed image

can it stream via the HDMI without the UI being visible?

I'm amazed at how good today's technology has become. I'll bet if you made a full length feature film using that camcorder, a good story, and proper lighting, few would ever guess that it was made with a simple consumer camcorder.

Probably a great camera for producing crisp smooth content for social media -- especially since it shoots 60fps, which always looks leagues better than 24/30 on reels/tiktok. Only thing is the highlight roll-off is very camcorder-y -- not as nice as higher-end high dynamic range cameras.

I think it would be great for traveling, low risk of it getting stolen since people might think its a cheapo camera, but still really good video output!!

would love to see Markus tinkering with different types of camera rigs. he is so creative that I think he could find some innovative solutions
