Thanks for the video. Can you please post an image with characters on it and an alley turned into a depth map and the corresponding rgb image for download so I can see the quality of the effect? Thanks in advance
ОтветитьHow much was that lens again?
ОтветитьMagic track cool than depth map
ОтветитьDone, Subscribed!
ОтветитьStump would be my choice.
ОтветитьGreat Tutorial Jason, so far the best I have seen! I wonder if you would have the time to show us how to change a crappy background with a nice one or use sky replacement tool? I want to add to thank you for making such a great tutorial!
ОтветитьDepth map was not even close to being used correctly for this case use if comparing what it could achieve to a decent camera. Take a look at a video titled, "Don't Use Depth Map Like This! | Davinci Resolve 18". Heck, you didn't even enable depth maps' "better" mode and turn on post-process.....
ОтветитьIts funny as not too long ago I was part of a team where used depth maps to recreate 3d geometry of a location and that was made with a camera that costs around 18.000$ It turns and sends out different intensity flashes in quick sucessions to receive the bouncing light and calculate the correct position of things in the scene. Frome each other as well. Very high-res, very freaky and here you already have the beginings. For free.
ОтветитьInteresting, but maybe the bonus tip would work better if you did not add the depth map on the Bottom layer, just add a BLUR effect on it and then you would not have the HALO effect to deal with...
ОтветитьI would love the deep dive!
I currently try to add depth of field to action camera footage of my son with a AI generated depthmap and aftereffects. It works, but the whole process takes endless time. So i think of ditching my finalcut toolchain and moving on to resolve. I wonder, however, how the lens blur effect is controlled by the depthmap in Resolve: Does the depthmap control the blur intensity (as it should for good quality dof) or does it control alpha of the lens blur effect with fixed blur intensity?
His Lens cost 2000$
Ответитьa single-value blur like the lens blur, or the gaussian blur will only apply the same amount of blur on each pixel, and literally change the opacity for the non-white parts, which doesn't really look that great. In fusion, there is the "depth blur", which applies less blur to the grey areas, and gives that proper depth of field look.
ОтветитьI would love to sea a tutorial on how to use depth maps for fog effects. I have been trying to get that working through a few open source algorithms on github. Glad to see resolve finally implement it natively.
ОтветитьA log is just a stick with a transform node. I wonder how well a Defocus Node would do for fuzzing the background...
(I don't have 18 yet to check)
you have done it wrong way. that is why you get halo effect on border. first delete object from video by clone , then add object in another layer
ОтветитьYou can't compare to a 2000 dollar lens, maybe a cheaper lens like a kit lens may be a better example. I done a headshot on a Sony a7 III with the 28 to 70 kit lens and it done a decent job. You also didn't smooth the depth map out etc,
ОтветитьBy increasing the map’s contrast and just adding a subtler blur on my wedding videos made a huge and very convincing bokeh effect. Just don’t go overboard and add only a little to create the scene’s mood. Also, I was blown away at how my lowly M1 Mac Mini almost performed as well as my Alienware RTX 3070 laptop with some of Resolve’s newer tweaks!
Thanks and great video!
this might work better for action camera trying to recreate the bokeh
ОтветитьNot needed for me but good to know thx 😊
ОтветитьSorry, how much did that lens cost? I didn't quite catch it.
ОтветитьBlur layer needs an inpaint effect to remove foreground element ;-)
Ответитьbullshit video, it could be a 3 mins video but you have dragged it to 16 mins
ОтветитьI always learn something from your vids man...thanks!
ОтветитьVery practical use case Jason, thank you! Yes, everyone should strive to make it easier on the post guys 😂
ОтветитьCarbon Fiber realness 🔥
ОтветитьThis new magic mask blows my mind. I almost feel bad charging clients now because the software pretty much does all of the work.
Ответитьvery cool as always and really for that crazy price of the lens and I'm not making money to justify the lens damn right I'll be using this video too :)
so you haven't experienced any issues with the 18 beta??
been wanting to ask what's your monitor again, been using my 3-27" monitor setup and find it a pain with the edges splitting up the program.
I would love a deep dive into the different uses for the depth map and the settings. Great video Its definitely beneficial to people like me who don't shoot our own video or pictures
ОтветитьIf the shot is moving you wont see the small imperfections anyway
ОтветитьGreat comparison video Jason 🤟.
Loved the honesty - and you still showed how powerful the depth map can be.
Great job man 🙏🏻
Nice 🙂
