Of course they would choose silent hill 2. Don't get me wrong it's awesome but I like silent hill 3 better. I like heathers journey better then James and I love the mall and hospital. Sh2 had a hospital but I like sh3's more. Plus you leave silent hill and it comes with you. Also the music Mary Elizabeth mcglynn is an angel. I love her voice mixed with akria yomaokas smooth guitar licks. It was such a masterpiece of a soundtrack it became the norm to have a theme with lyrics from there on out. With Mary singing almost all the music as well.

Oh man i love Silent Hill 3. I do love the 2nd game as well but 3 hits different for me

I actually think Downpour is decent, I like the secrets you can find in the various buildings in the town, and how they affect the ending. I did not like The Room, stupid invincible enemies, and that weird dude who just constantly follows you shooting at you and you can't do anything about it, that is so annoying.

Silent Hill Homecoming > Silent Hill 4

Dont get me wrong I absolutely love SH2, but SH3 is the better game and far scarier.

Downpour is better than Homecoming imo. Otherwise the rest of this list I pretty much agree with.

1,2,3,4 are my personal favorites.
I cant pick just 1. But I can forget about any others that are not 1,2,3,4. After that the games lost their scare, erie creepy factor.

Origins is definitely higher than Shattered Memories and The Room. At least its a Silent Hill game

They should remake silent hill 1 before 2 and just go on from there

I only played the original four, and I agree with their ranking. SH4 is a great game that has good ideas. SH1 and SH3 are top tier horror games. And SH2...best horror game ever

Silent Hill Homecoming hold a special place in my heart since it was the first SH I played. Not as bad as people say in my opinion

Silent hill shattered memories was just built differently then most and for that to me its #1 its like a gem in a sea of gold

Unfortunately, the decision to remake was determined by the fact that the PS2 sold many more copies than the PS1, so logically many more people started with the 2 and then (maybe) played the 1.

Silent Hill 1-3 are the only good ones imo. 4 was horrible, and I didn't even want to waste time downloading the rest.

Best will always be silent hill 1! the OG! gives me nightmares but i still muster up my courage to finish it but did not get the good ending tho.

Silent Hill part 1 is the BEST game in the series.

Hated weapon reduction and enemie that couldnt be killed were annoying, i didnt play any game past the room. I wish they were remaking 1 as opposed to 3. Most of the back story is there. If new players never saw the 1st movie or played 1 a lot of this town stuff is lost, and 1 is so hard to go back to being ps1

Shattered memories was the worst. It had some cool ideas, but you very quickly realized you were never in any danger, when in the normal world, as there were never any monsters there and the ice world was always just a chase scene on rails where there was no real consequence to failing as they were so short and had checkpoints. Silent Hill the original is still my favourite and the one that creeped me out the most.

I'm not sticking up for Downpour because imo it's not a great game. I do think it's okay and worse than the room. But homecoming is awful! Homecoming is a game that was made by someone who doesn't understand the story of Silent Hill 2 clearly. Silent Hill 2 is the greatest Silent Hill game ever made and a pure masterpiece. Pyramid Head is a manifestation of James' perverse Psyche. The reason Pyramid Head can't be killed in the game is because James is secretly keeping his perverted side alive. It's not till the end of the game that James finally destroys that side of him and finishes off Maria the version of his wife he secretly longed for. Once His perverse Psyche is destroyed, James see's Maria as his wife rather than a perverse version of his wife. Pyramid Head being a boss in another Silent Hill game doesn't make sense for that reason. So the creator's of homecoming clearly either didn't understand the story of SH2 or they didn't care and threw in member berries! Either way it puts that game almost in last place imo. Book of memories is absolutely the worst but a close second is homecoming and I think any real fan of Silent Hill would absolutely agree. That's the reason I also hated the movie. the second movie is much worse but the first one is awful too.

The first one was really scary when it was released. Truly a masterpiece 👏

Homecoming over Downpour is a crime

silent hill 1 + 2 were both traumatizing... STILL the only 2 games i literally CANNOT play alone at night

i only played each game one time to completion and still have vivid trauma memories of both games... thought maybe it would be different playing 2's remake... NOPE! still have to switch games every night when it gets dark lol

i loved resident evil 1+2 as a kid and there were def semi-scary stuff (mostly your own imagination reading the docs) but silent hill was on such another level... i question why the hell i was even playing these games at 11

I dont know why people ignore the lore amd symbolism of SH1. Its just as heartbreaking as 2
