I think you are amazing Sarah. I do not have the guts to welcome these foods and make peace. I do not see it ever happening. They will always be the enemy. 😞🤷🏻♀️
ОтветитьSarah loving your t-shirt!!! "Don't overthink it" 👏👏👏👏👏 My God! I always learn so cool info about binge eating here. Awesome content!!! Awesome!!!!
ОтветитьI haven’t binge ate in a long time. But I definitely still have trouble with how I view food. And Wow u explained this sooo well. Thanks.
ОтветитьLove this balanced view of food Sarah. Really related to the bit about the combination of zoning out behaviour with the high from the food . In my own journey I've gone through the OA stage of thinking I had an addiction, feeling like a failure when I couldn't keep abstinence etc. And now realising that my food problem was an eating disorder and needing to look at the real reasons why I was eating this way. This episode was a brilliant talk through of how to blend permission to avoid restrict cycle, understanding the effect of foods on our biology whilst having neutrality and gentle nutrition as well. So glad your posting this content, so thankful for it xxx
ОтветитьLoving all your videos! 🙏
ОтветитьGood on you, Sarah, for choosing exactly the right Gabor Maté quote to help Everyman (and woman) understand addiction. 🙏
ОтветитьI love your videos you are really great, thank you ❤️
ОтветитьGreat video! Really found it enlightening, the concept that sometimes you can have urges for foods which you historically only eat in the context of a binge (for me that'd be something like peanut butter) and perhaps that can be reframed. Also the idea that you can have withdrawal type symptoms from an environmental situation (eating food while watching TV, etc) which could be mistakenly associated with a particular food. Finally, I definitely agree with you that certain high palatability foods, I just don't seem to ever reach a natural point where by body and mind tell me I've consumed "enough". I really have to use my active brain to decide enough is enough.
ОтветитьThat numbed out state omg that is what I was chasing.
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьI've been binge watching these videos for the past few hours and I feel seen, heard, and understood. It also helps me to feel optimistic about healing my complex relationship with food.
ОтветитьIs alcohol driving alcoholism? Is heroin driving heroin addiction?
The answer is yes and obvious.
Not everyone who drinks alcohol is an alcoholic. But for those who cannot stop, they are alcoholics.
Sure, not everyone who eats ultra processed food is an ultra processed food addict. But for those who cannot stop...
This has been known for centuries and figured out by 12-steppers almost a century ago.
The ultra processed food industry spends billions to muddy the waters.
Food neutrality is a flawed concept. Nice idea but ultimately fails the nuance that some substances are purposely produced to HIJACK your reward center i.e., street narcotics, alcohol, cigarettes, and ultra processed foods; equating those substances to aspirin, water, and a salad and saying they're "neutral" is ignorant at best and disingenuous at worst.
Does this make sense I top up in reverse which has led to intuition good eating- ( ref last part of your video)
ОтветитьDEFINATELY
