The US mint needs a massive overhaul. It's such a shame to see it in its current state. They did improve the website issues atleast.

The silver flowing hair medal will do very well…they will make more coins like it but they will all be different tributes to different designs…the flowing hair is like the first in the series…the flowing hair will likely do as well as the v75 proof silver eagle…in the long run..especially once they start coming out with other tribute designs in the series…they made way too many peace and Morgan dollar coins…and they are minting a lot of silver eagle proof coins…gotta buy the stuff that is not minted every year

I did buy the 2024 Uncirculated Set yesterday after learning on Louie's channel of the potential low mintages for the Jefferson Nickels and the possible (or likely) last year of the Kennedy Half Dollar design. First set bought since 2019.

Buy cheap what people don't want right now. I have 30 of the 2023 regular, proof, and reverse proof graded 70, mostly CAC and some PCGS Morgan and Peace dollars. Would like to buy 10 more for 40 total and pack them away for the long term. Buy what they don't want and sell what they do want.

I have no idea what's going on short term on proofs etc and am so confused by the myriad of different slabs and gradings on offer so I never try to predict the secondary market I just get what I like and rely on the underlying silver price to go up long term. This is why I avoid slabbed sets and just buy the odd BU unslabbed. Seems to me all the dealers just grab all the US mint sets they can and just break em up and slab em anyway- which simply leads to secondary market confusion, so I avoid them all Wolverine.. Does this make the original sets more valuable??! Surely there are less of them once the dealers break em up? I have no idea! The other thing in my part of the world, anything "proof" or "graded" is taxed as a "collectors" coin..(where as the basic Silver Eagle isn't) . .so who wants to pay tax on "money" anyway! Still I would like to get at least one proof or "graded".. so I guess what you are saying is if you can get any proof eagle now on secondary that is under 70 bucks that is a good deal?

Great video. I'm really disappointed in the performance of the 2021 Eagle reverse proof set. I thought this set would go up quite a bit in price. I bought 2 sets and had them graded. I got back a set of 69's and a set of 70's. The 70's aren't doing too bad, but again, I thought the prices would be much higher.

I guess I'm pretty lucky. I was able to purchase one of the 2019 Enhanced Reverse Proof ASE from San Francisco, and one of the V75 Privy Mark ASE back in 2020. But due to the Mint's price increases I reduced all my subscriptions from 3 to 1. I wanted to start a collection for my granddaughters but since the mintages are so high they'll be able to obtain their own some day if they become interested.

I bought the Flowing hair silver medal and I got lucky and recieved the 230 Privy. I had my LCS send it off to NGC to be graded... I got lucky again and received an MS70 grade. So for $200 Expidited Service , $300 total.... I have a $5,000-$7,000 Medal..... If you don't want to take a chance, that's fine. There will always be people that will....

Check out the 2021 gold liberty medal with the bucking horse. They’re going for about 3x issue price right now. Wish I would have nabbed one of those. It comes down to mintages. ASEs are popular and more than 30k people want to have them all so the ERP from 2019 costs a fortune. The 2011 set was 100k. That’s about the cut off for low mintage and has to be a popular set. 250k just is not low mintage. There are too many yahoos and flippers now that think they’re so smart buying from the mint to flip everything. I wish this people would do something else. They always flood the market and don’t realize everyone else has the same idea so it drives prices down by the people who desperately need to sell because they shouldn’t have bought in the first place. Not real bright. Everybody wants to make a quick buck so I’d imagine mint prices will continue to climb to account for it.

I buy only 24k from the Mint. Always a Proof, always 1 troy oz, Never a Buffalo, partial to the High Reliefs. Mint has some beautiful coins. Have two of the Flowing Hair 230th Anniversary Gold and they look stunning in person, the renderings didn't do it justice. These are investment grade type coins and command a good price. The entire 24k Mint collection 1 oz HR coins are investment grade. Think about it: 21 million BTC and each is worth what $$ How many 2023 American Liberty Gold HR were minted? 12,500

Keep in mind inventory on the secondary market may be cherry picked for 70’s. One dealer admitted that the best material is not offered for resale in OGP. So you can take the gamble direct from the source and end up with a 69 or a 70.

I really like the Flowing hair but I don't get the "privy" thing. It's intentionally made at a low production level so I don't see what is so collectable about that. CC, O, S etc mint marks on old pre-33 gold coins or even 1964 and older silver can be more desirable because less were made, but that was unintentionally making some legitimately rare. Just slapping a 230 mark at the same mint same production run then paying $1,000s more for it seems ridiculous to me.

I think the problem is that new collectors do not realize that numismatic products take twenty or more years to appreciate. When they do not get rich quick, they sell their products on the secondary market depressing prices.

Curious if the auction is legal? Isn't the Mint supposed to sell their products at a set price over spot.
Just curious- any lawyers have an answer to this question?

Hi Silver Wolverine! Love you videos! Collecting modern silver coins is a long, long term sport. I'm hoping to give my American Silver Eagle Proof Collection to my grand kids (even though they haven't been born yet). That way, they should be more rare, and worth more, say 100 years from now! 😎🏆

I had 2 Reverse Proof Morgan/Peace sets on subscription. However about a month ago, I lowered it to 1 to protest the mint's behavior this past July when they raised the price of silver right before the other Morgan/Peace individual silver dollars were released. Highway robbery going on and Trump had better find someone to fix it and put Ms. Gibson on the unemployment line.

I will no longer buy from the mint to keep my collection complete. Instead I will buy very selectively with a focus on coins I like or must have. Hoping prices go up is a poor reason to buy because as you point out, too many mint products either do not hold their value or can be purchased elsewhere for less.
